About the  Institute of International Language

  • As a part of the Institution of International Education, the Center for Korean Language Education opened in 2002 by the Center for Language Research and Instruction. The center's goal  is to teach the Korean language, culture and history to foreigners and Koreans abroad. Also, the Center for Korean Language Education runs Korean programs for students who want to attend a Korean University or Korean graduate school to acquire Korean abilities necessary to gain scholastic aptitudes. The Center for Korean Language Education provides opportunities to experience and understand Korean culture through "culture activity program" such as field trip. In addition to a regular Korean program, foreign students can study and understand Korean and Korean culture by paring up with Korean students of Dongguk University who want to help them. Furthermore, exchanges with sister universities in Asian, American and other countries are actively being taken place through Korean education programs for exchange students. We are doing our best to understand Korean and Korean culture through a systematic curriculum to meet students' various needs with highly qualified teachers who all majored in Korean education, learning materials to reflect a characteristic of Korean, effective and modern teaching methods and a friendly lessons.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study : 
    The language education program at DongGuk University is one of the top-tier programs in Korea. Students will be able to socialize with native speakers to learn more about the culture as well as communication skills. 

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    This course is a comprehensive education of listening, speaking, reading, and writing; it especially helps to improve communication ability. There are six levels, and classes are kept very small. Placement tests are given in the beginning of the course to make sure the students are learning right materials

    Curriculum : 
    Curriculum of each semester consists of total 200 hours for 10 weeks. Classes run 5 days a week, and there will be 2 cultural activity programs. Classes are flexible so that students can work to satisfy their individual academic needs.

  • Located near the eco-friendly Namsan mountain in Seoul, Namsan Haksa on campus housing offers comfortable living space for students. Students get either double or single room. Meals will be served on the ground floor cafeteria at the given time.

Surrounding Area

  • Around the campus there are museums, patio garden, Performance Theater, and main library. If students walk out of campus, they can explore one of the biggest and most exciting cities in the world. There are numerous restaurants, cafes, nightlife, entertainment sites, shopping areas and numerous more places.

Facilities

  • Interactive classrooms, counselor programs, full access to Seoul campus, and conversation partner program are available for students.

Activity

  • There are Korean culture classes where students can learn dances, food, tea culture and more. Also, students can take part in listening to music or composing pieces, and various indoor activities are possible in the main gym.
