German Swiss International School About the

  • The German Swiss International School is an international school in Hong Kong established in 1969 by German and Swiss families looking for a bilingual German-English education in an international setting. Beginning with 73 students in its inaugural year, GSIS now has approximately 1,250 students from over 30 countries. GSIS enrolls students from Kindergarten to Secondary in two parallel streams known as the English International Stream and the German International Stream. Starting from the 2019/2020 school year, it has also offered German/Chinese bilingual kindergarten classes. It also has a Business College (German Wirtschaftskolleg), which offers Wholesale & Foreign Trade and Transport & Logistics Management training programmes. In 1997 the Anglophone classes had about 59% of the students while the German classes had the other students. The main thrust of the GSIS curricula was that students have a bi-cultural Anglophone-German experience.

Course Information

  • For 3-4 year olds
    Our Playtime programme offers 3-4 year old children a variety of fun and engaging activities in the areas of creative arts, science, physical education and emotional wellbeing in order to get preschool age children on track toward becoming successful students. Playtime is a half day long from 9am to 12 noon.

    For 5-7 year olds
    Our Magic programme offers 5 to 7 year olds a huge mix of activities, theme days and special events for a truly magical experience. Our extra-curricular camp provides children with a unique chance to develop their independence, overcome challenges and make personal choices through a programme of exciting activities.

    For 8-11 year olds
    Our Active programme is packed with pure excitement and new-found friendship. Young campers can reach new heights, learn new skills and enjoy plenty of healthy outdoor activities. Children set their own pace on the Active programme; they can choose high energy sports or arts, crafts and design. Active programs are designed to build confidence, and inspire children to learn more about themselves through teamwork.
