  • - One school, two streams: FIS offers an exceptional education in both the French stream and the International stream.
    - FIS was established in 1963 as one of the first international schools in Hong Kong. The school is now one of Hong Kong's largest international through schools and welcomes over 2,700 students from age 4 to 18 years old, representing 40 different nationalities, across four campuses.

  • FIS is a non-profit association established in 1963 under the Hong Kong company ordinance law. All debenture holders are members of the association, represented by an elected board of directors who themselves appoint the board chair. The Consul general of France in Hong Kong and Macau acts as the honorary president of the association.The responsibility of the board is strategic, by ensuring FIS's long-term financial stability and defining the school's vision.The board empowers and delegates authority to the leadership team to design and deliver the school's pedagogy and development plan aligned with the vision, taking into consideration the interests of the FIS community.Building trust is at the heart of our governance. Solid policies, risk management and transparency are key to the school framework.

    Activities and Field Trips
    Field trips and activities to enhance student learning take place throughout the year. As part of the Year 9 curriculum, students visit France for 20 days as a year group where they have the chance to further build their comprehension and confidence in French. At the end of the school year, all International Stream secondary students take part in CAS - Creativity, Activity, Service - Week. Collaboratively, they explore, learn and help support issues locally and overseas.

    Activities and Trips
    FIS offers many events which Upper School students can organize and be part of as they take ownership of the CAS programme. This includes sponsored walks, sports coaching and tutoring. In addition, within the CAS framework, all Year 12 students participate in an activity week set in the mountains of Northern Thailand. This trip gives the students an opportunity to try many different activities, strengthen team building skills, experience teaching English at a local Thai Primary School and assist in service projects such as building work and painting at local schools.

    FIS encourages students to challenge themselves, work together and shine in a wide variety of non-classroom settings. In lower primary, students enjoy outside visits and excursions to concerts, linked to IEYC and IPC for example. There are also school wide art, music and sports projects for them to join as well as various extra-curricular activities.

    A broad range of complementary educational activities enrich the learning of students who have many opportunities to broaden their horizons outside the classroom. Visits and camps are an important part of the learning process and all students from year 3 to year 6 enjoy a school camp experience. Our year 6 students visit China where they work on service projects, helping prepare them for CAS in secondary.
