  • The “Deutschkurse bei der Universität München e.V.” are one of the largest language-teaching and test centres for German as a Foreign Language in Munich. In close cooperation with Munich universities, and on behalf of the LMU, we regularly offer preparatory courses and courses to accompany your degree as well as examinations required for university admission (DSH, TestDaF, Telc and TestAS).

    We are situated in the centre of Munich, strictly speaking in the district “Schwabing” which is well-known for its interesting shops, restaurants and cafés as well as for its lively student area around Munich university campus. Our language institute is easily accessible by subway and only three stops away from Munich main station.

  • We offer a free placement service:
    We are happy to arrange a suitable tenant from among our Deutschkurse students. We can provide you with a non-binding draft contract, and act as guarantor for your first month's rent.
    Information for tenants: From our rental pool we offer - if available - rooms in Munich. The offer applies only to those who have booked a course with us and are looking for accommodation for the duration of their German course.
    Please note: Currently we do not have any room offers for July and August. Your room request cannot be noted due to high demand. For requests from September on we are happy to assist you to find a room during your course at our institute.

Surrounding Area

  • Munich is the capital and most populous city of the Free State of Bavaria. With a population of 1,578,132 inhabitants as of 31 May 2022, it is the third-largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg, and thus the largest which does not constitute its own state, as well as the 11th-largest city in the European Union. The city's metropolitan region is home to about 6 million people. Straddling the banks of the River Isar north of the Alps, Munich is the seat of the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Bavaria, while being the most densely populated municipality in Germany with 4,500 people per km2. Munich is the second-largest city in the Bavarian dialect area, after the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Activity

  • On weekends and in the evenings you will have time to explore Munich and Bavaria with other students. In addition to a city tour, we organize excursions, for example to Neuschwanstein or Salzburg. Other interesting activities are also included in the program.

    Participation in this program is subject to a fee. However, the International Office subsidizes the trips for Erasmus+ and LMUexchange students.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • Sie erreichen uns mit der U-Bahn (Linie U2), Haltestelle Josephsplatz.
