Surrounding Area
Granada, the birthplace of the poet Federico García Lorca, is without a doubt one of the most fascinating cities in southern Spain. It is also an important university town with almost 50,000 inhabitants and more than 70,000 students. With its world-famous Alhambra, rich culture and lively nightlife, it is the ideal place to both study and take a holiday: weekends on the Mediterranean coast, winter sports, horsebackriding or trekking in the Sierra Nevada, trips to the picturesque villages of the Alpujarras, gypsy Flamenco in Sacromonte, Salsa or Tango dancing, the Arabic baths or walks through the historical Moorish quarter of the Albaicín, are just a few of the many possibilities to enjoy and experience the lifestyle of this unique city. At the end of the day, one can also relax with a glass of red wine served with a free «tapa» on the small squares giving out onto the Alhambra and the beautiful snow-covered mountain tops of the Sierra Nevada.
Activity
Students can enjoy Easter Week «Semana Santa» with daily processions, International Music and Dance Festival in June/July, Jazz Festival in November and so much more.
Getting to school from the airport
Once students arrive at the airport, they should take a taxi or the airport bus. If students are taking a cab, students should specifically ask the taxi driver to take them to the Placeta de Albaida since there are two streets named Cuesta de los Chinos in Granada. If students are taking the airport buts, they should take the little red bus no.31 or 35 coming from Plaza Nueva to Gran vIA.
