Location
Surrounding Area
Wellington is New Zealand’s capital city with a population of over 500,000 in the wider-region. The Lonely Planet Guide once voted Wellington the ‘Coolest Little Capital in the World’. It is the home of the New Zealand Government, great art, the New Zealand film industry and quality education. Victoria and Massey University and other tertiary institutions have campuses in Wellington. This lifestyle city includes 363 km of mountain bike track and 497 km of coastline. Wellington has more cafés, restaurants and bars per capita than anywhere else in New Zealand (and even more than in New York as of 2018). Centrally located, it is easy to travel to both North and South Island destinations for a weekend break or a holiday trip.
Facilities
ETC is located in the centre of Wellington and has 10 classrooms equipped with the latest multimedia facilities. Our 2 student lounges offer a pool table, table tennis and a relaxation area with a TV and small library. Tea and coffee is available free to students at any time from the 2 student kitchens. We have free Wi-Fi in our computer lab. Our Speaking Club offers speaking practice outside of class hours in a relaxed environment. Weekly activities and weekend trips are regularly organised to ensure our students can experience Wellington and New Zealand life to the fullest. ETC Wellington is an official TOEIC Testing Centre.
Activity
Activities which take place during class time are usually free (Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm). We try to keep weekly and monthly activities free, however should an entrance or hiring fee be charged at the venue, students may have to cover the cost. If activities are taking place out of CBD boundaries and require transport costs students may be ask to pay a transportation fee. Posters containing information regarding the activity, including estimated cost are put on the activity board weekly. Should a student decide to sign up for an activity, it is their responsibility to check if a cost is involved.
Getting to the school from the airport
Our staff can pick students up at the airport and drop them off at their accommodation. A small fee may apply. Please enquire with our support staff.
