Eurocentres Malta About the
Establishment 2003, Skylark School of English is a young and friendly language school in Msida on the sunny island of Malta. The institute is within walking distance of the University, the Yacht Marina and also Sliema – Malta’s largest and most modern town. We are on a major bus route, and Valletta (Malta’s Capital City) and St Julian’s (Malta’s nightlife and entertainment hub) are only a 5-minute bus ride away. Skylark is situated in a very quiet area with all amenities within walking distance. The English Language lessons are conducted by professional and dynamic teachers. All our teachers are native speakers, fully qualified and specially trained to teach English as a second language. We offer an exciting and interesting leisure and activity programme that combines education, entertainment and fun. The school guarantees their students an experience they will never forget! Skylark offers individual attention and will help students with their daily needs, as well as with any academic problems you may have. For example, should students need advice about their flight tickets, visa, host-families, the level of their class or even about applying to the University of Malta; the ounsellors are always available to offer help.
Focus of Study : This is the most popular course as it leaves lots of free time to relax and sightsee.
Curriculum :
If students wish to improve their English rapidly, this is the course for them. The morning sessions give students practice in reading, writing and listening; whilst the afternoon sessions concentrate mainly on improving speaking and vocabulary.
On the first day at school, the Director of Studies will give them a written placement test and an oral interview to ensure that we place them in the best class for their level. Once their level improves sufficiently their teachers and the Director of Studies will discuss moving them up to a higher level. However if at any point during their course they feel that they would like to move up or down a level, they are free to discuss this matter with the staff.
The school has specially designed this course to ensure that all skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are adequately covered and improved on. There are no more than 10 students per class, and a healthy nationality mix ensures that students get plenty of practice speaking in English.
The courses are offered at these levels: Beginner, Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced. Courses are available at all levels.
At the end of their course you will be given a Skylark certificate and a Student Report filled out and signed by their teacher.
Class hours: Mondays to Fridays 09:00-10:30; 11:00-12:30, 13:00-14:30

Surrounding Area
Malta covers just over 316 km2 (122 sq mi) in land area, making it one of the world's smallest states. It is also one of the most densely populated countries worldwide. Throughout history, Malta's location has given it great strategic importance, and a succession of powers including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, Habsburg Spain, Knights of St John, French and the British ruled the islands. Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic in 1974, whilst retaining membership in the Commonwealth of Nations. Malta was admitted to the United Nations in 1964 and to the European Union in 2004. Malta is also a party to the Schengen Agreement and in 2008 it became part of the Eurozone. Malta has a long Christian legacy and is an apostolic see. According to the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible, St. Paul was shipwrecked on "Melite", as the Greeks called the island, and ministered there. Catholicism is the official religion in Malta as declared by the Maltese constitution. Malta is internationally renowned as a tourist destination, with numerous recreational areas and historical monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most prominently the Megalithic Temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.
