Delfin English School DublinAbout the
Delfin English School opened its doors in 2005 in the heart of Dublin City beside O'Connell St, the most famous street in Dublin and only a short walk from Grafton St and Temple Bar. Our main school is based in a lovely Georgian building with large, bright and modern classrooms. The school has an excellent student recreation room with drinks and snacks machines and plenty of games to entertain students! The school also has a student library where they can study both online and with audio aids and borrow books. In addition to these facilities, the school offers free internet access to all students, including WIFI if students bring their own laptops. The real difference between us and other schools, however, is the atmosphere in the school.

Surrounding Area
Dublin is one of the most visited cities in the EU and is a popular place to live.Dublin (in Irish: Baile Átha Cliath) meaning "Town of the Hurdled Ford’ is both the largest city with a population of a million and a half and is the political and indeed cultural capital of Ireland. It is located near the midpoint of Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey and at the centre of the Dublin Region.Founded as a Viking settlement, the city has been Ireland's primary city for most of the island's history since medieval times. Today, it is ranked 10th in the Global Financial Centre’s Index, is an economic, administrative and cultural centre for the island of Ireland and has one of the fastest growing populations of any European capital city. There is a vibrant nightlife in Dublin and it is reputedly one of the most youthful cities in Europe - with estimates of 50% of inhabitants being younger than 25. Furthermore in 2007, it was voted the friendliest city in Europe. Dublin is, of course, on the coast so there are lovely places you can visit such as DunLaoire and Dalkey to the South or Howth to the north where you can see the seals in the water and visit the fish markets which operate daily. You can see the famous Martello Towers, one of which is mentioned at the beginning of Ulysses.Dublin is a city with music everywhere, friendly people and a relaxed atmosphere. Dublin people love talking, so for a student of English it really is the perfect place.
Facilities
The main school is based in a lovely Georgian building with large, bright and modern classrooms. The building, dating back to the 1750’s, includes fully-equipped classrooms, a reception area, a library and a student canteen. There is a smoking area outside where students can experience Dublin’s unique climate. The second location is also a lovely building located very centrally, here you will find fully equiped classrooms and a student area containing a small kitchen and pc's with internet. Students are also welcome to use all the facilities in the main centre. Location is important for most students and both centres of Delfin are located right in the centre of Dublin, just five minutes walk from O'Connell Street.
Internet Access In addition to these facilities, we offer free internet access to all students, including WIFI if students bring their own laptops. Both our Student room and Library contain computers with broadband access.
Classrooms The large, bright classrooms are fully equipped with whiteboard and audio/visual facilities. Learning English is not just about grammar and so the classrooms allow students to move around and practice English in different ways using various methods which mean students will improve as quickly as possible while also enjoying their English classes.
Recreation Room The spacious student area has a range of tables and chairs where students can interact with each other. It is a great place to meet students from other classes or just relax after their English classes. There is also a pool table and foosball table and a range of modern computers, each with full broadband connection. Tea and coffee facilities are also available.
Coffee Room The coffee room is where students gather to discuss what they have learnt that day and the plans they are making for the busy social night ahead. There are self-service machines where both food and hot/cold drinks are available. Students also have access to WIFI and often use this area to check their laptops after classes or do some homework.
Library The school also has a student library where you can study both online and with audio aids and borrow books if students leave a deposit. There is an extensive range of both text books and fiction, many of which are adapted especially to different levels of fluency. There is a small deposit to join the library and this is given back when students finish in Delfin.
Activity
Delfin organises weekly cultural, social and sporting outings where students can actively practice their English with native speakers and other students. They are very popular and the school does not charge anything extra for these. A Delfin teacher will accompany the group on each trip.
