Focus of Study : The English Language Intensive Course for International Students (ELICIS) is conducted by the International Centre, University of Pune for a period of 4 months at 5 levels each. Students from different countries attend the course. The course prepares the foreign students from Non-English speaking backgrounds to cope with the education system at the Indian Universities.

The specific objective of this course is to develop the communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, with emphasis on grammar and vocabulary. Curriculum :
Each ELICIS programme is divided into three levels, i.e. Levels I, II & III,. At the beginning of each course, a test is conducted to determine the English proficiency level of the student. Following the test and results, students are divided into groups.
The five levels are run both simultaneously with other courses or independently. The admission to this course is subject to fulfillment of the conditions of eligibility. Classroom Hour : The duration of each course is sixteen weeks, four hours a day, six days a week. |
