Internat MarktoberdorfAbout the
Our boarding school accommodates students from all three school types. Some boarding school places are intended from the outset for secondary school and middle school students. If it turns out that this is not the right type of school for high school students, our students can stay at the boarding school in familiar surroundings and complete their middle school leaving certificate at neighboring schools. At our boarding school, young people can develop their independence and strengthen their self-esteem by living with their peers. In the area of tension between regular everyday life and individual freedom, supported by a committed team of educators and teachers, they learn to stand on their own two feet, integrate into a group, spend their free time meaningfully and treat each other with respect.
Focus of Study : In addition to creating a pleasant atmosphere in which students can feel at home and accepted, promoting school learning is particularly important to us. In addition to our full-time educators, high school teachers work in the study halls in manageable learning groups of 5-10 students, who provide the students with competent support with questions and problems regarding their respective subjects. In addition, for individual support, we also offer free individual tutoring from specialist teachers in the core subjects, which the students can attend in addition to their homework supervision. Of course, the students are also encouraged to support each other and thus learn increasingly independently and effectively.
Benefit, Goal of this course : During “study time” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., students up to the 9th grade are supported in completing their homework in small groups (approx. 10 students) in a quiet atmosphere. In addition to the educators, there are also high school teachers who work here and the boarding school students can get help from them. In the first hour, emphasis is placed on completing written homework; after the break, the main focus should be on academic learning (vocabulary, preparing school assignments, minor subjects). With good school performance, advanced independence and in consultation with parents, students can do their homework independently in their rooms. If necessary, a special type of support is provided by so-called “special studies”. Depending on their needs, students receive individual tutoring or support in small groups in core subjects such as foreign languages or mathematics/physics. This form of individual support is adapted to the students' timetables, is also supervised by specialist colleagues from the high school, is offered up to the upper level and is welcomed. In all cases, it is of course also important that the students are willing to close gaps; offers of learning or help under duress are known to make little sense. When students come to us on their own initiative, collaboration works best and we look for solutions together.

Surrounding Area
Our boarding school, located in a rural area in the Allgäu between Kempten and Kaufbeuren, is easy to reach from Augsburg and Munich, but the convenient train and motorway connections also make it possible to travel beyond Swabia and Upper Bavaria.
Facilities
Our recently renovated boarding school complex consists of two buildings, a boys' and a girls' wing, which are connected by a common lounge area. All students are accommodated in modern double rooms (single rooms in the upper grades) with their own bathroom, as we attach great importance to the privacy of children and young people. In addition to various kitchens, leisure, group and TV rooms as well as the cafeteria, we can also provide four piano rooms, a snooker room, two fitness rooms and a workshop. When the weather is good, our idyllic outdoor area impresses with lots of greenery and extensive sports facilities (beach volleyball, volleyball, soccer and basketball courts), and our area also includes a triple gym. Within a 5-10 minute walk you will also find the municipal indoor/outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, the skating and ice rink and our swimming lake, the Ettwieser Weiher.
