Gabrieli Gymnasium EichstättAbout the
The Gabrieli-Gymnasium ( GG ) is an arts and business school in Eichstätt. The school's namesake is the court architect Gabriel de Gabrieli , who came from Graubünden and lived and worked in Eichstätt in the first half of the 18th century. The history of the Gabrieli-Gymnasium goes back to 1274 as the Dominican monastery in Eichstätt. King Ludwig I had it set up as a “Royal School Teachers’ Seminar” in 1834. Since 1935, the name “Deutsche Aufbauschule” has been mentioned. From 1948/49 the teacher training college was gradually converted into a general secondary school. According to the state parliament resolution of October 15, 1953, the school was named Deutsches Gymnasium. When the types of high school were determined in 1965, the German high school became a music high school and has since been called the Gabrieli high school with student dormitory. In 1977 it became coeducational. In 1980, the Free State of Bavaria bought the ruins of St. Peter's Church, which was converted into a school auditorium. After the inauguration of an additional, modern new building, the number of students exceeded 1,000 for the first time in 2011. In 2011, an extension with additional classrooms and a new underground gymnasium was built according to plans by the local architectural firm Diezinger & Kramer. The entire historical ensemble is under monument protection with number D-1-76-123-127. After various restructuring, additions and conversions, the Gabrieli-Gymnasium now represents a modern, open all-day school that runs from the 5th grade to the Abitur. In the attached student home, around 50 students can be accommodated all year round in a number of one, two to six-bed rooms, and a further 30 students can also use the day home. A variety of elective teaching and recreational opportunities are available; These range from beginners' lessons to choirs, theater, dance, languages, carpentry, sports activities, sailing licenses and also the in-house jazz and rock 'n' roll band. The economics branch has also been offered since the 2020/21 school year.
Focus of Study : We currently have almost 40 students from grades 5 to 12 living with us. They attend either the Musisches Gabrieli-Gymnasium ( www.gabrieli-gymnasium.de ) or the Willibald-Gymnasium ( www.willibald-gymnasium.de ), depending on the situation Choice of school branch. Pupils from the two Eichstätter secondary schools, the Maria-Ward-Realschule ( http://www.mwrs-ei.de ) and the Rebdorf boys' secondary school ( www.krs-rebdorf.de ), can also live in the boarding school. Occasionally, a visit to the Eichstätt-Schottenau middle school can also be organized. The monthly cost of 465 euros includes accommodation, meals and educational support. The boarding school is open during school hours from Sunday to Friday. At the weekend the students go home. In addition to teachers from the Gabrieli-Gymnasium, two kindergarten teachers look after the personal and academic well-being of the children entrusted to them. The boarding school is affiliated with the Gabrieli-Gymnasium and is located in the rooms of the former Dominican monastery. In addition to the floor plan, the only thing that reminds us of the past is the representative staircase, which was designed and built by the school's namesake, Gabriel de Gabrieli. One advantage of boarding school is the short distances - whether to school, into town, to the shop, to the doctor or to the outdoor pool. The children and young people spend less time on the bus and learn early to be responsible for their own lives.
