CJD Jugenddorf-Christophorusschule RostockAbout the
The CJD belongs to the Christian Youth Village Association of Germany e.V., one of the largest youth, educational and social organizations in Germany. At the Christophorusschule Oberurff, both the transfer of knowledge and the development of personality have top priority, since a developed personality is the basis for dealing responsibly with the knowledge acquired. The CJD thus represents a holistic view of education that is not satisfied with formal educational qualifications, but gives young people orientation and empowers them to lead their lives with self-confidence and responsibility. The Christophorusschule Rostock is developing a support branch for the highly gifted, a branch for competitive athletes and a support branch for young HMT students. A school social worker and a staff member for special needs are available for special tasks. Being part of the CJD, the school has a Christian orientation; religion is a compulsory subject until the end of secondary school II. As part of the compulsory electives or courses, philosophy can also be chosen from class 7. The Christophorus School Rostock is an all-day school.

Boarding school:
The boarding school of the Christophorusschule Rostock is located directly on the grounds of the youth village. On three of the six floors, up to 66 students from the seventh grade upwards are looked after by a total of six educational staff and one dual student. In the first floor of the boarding school building are the administration, the work areas of the school social worker and special education worker, and the office of the school pastor.
Surrounding Area
Located on the Warnow River, Rostock is a town filled with beautiful streets designed for wandering. Its old churches and town gates are lovely in an understated way. Rostock is featured in the Historic Highlights of Germany list of 16 awesome off-the-beaten-track destinations to visit in that country. It’s the only town on the list located on a coast, the stunning Baltic Coast.
Facilities
The boarding school offers plenty of space for community: a TV room, a study room, a projector room and a billiard room. There is a shared kitchen on each floor. Breakfast, coffee and dinner are taken together at fixed times in the cafeteria on the ground floor. Lunch is also available here for CJD employees and guests, while the boarding school students and the other students in the canteen are catered for by a catering service in the campus forum. In addition, there is always the possibility to cook in one of the kitchens on the floor.
Activity
Throughout the year there are various festivals and activities in the boarding school, including a welcome party, Christmas party, end-of-summer party and evening activities in the house. Of course, this is best when school is normal or when athletes are training.
