NSI Nordsee-InternatAbout the
The Nordsee-Internat is a boarding school in Sankt Peter-Ording. The Nordsee-Internat is attended by 106 students. It does not offer its own school, but residents attend the public schools of St. Peter-Ording. Compulsory learning and support hours are planned in the afternoon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; In addition, students with particularly poor school grades or with dyslexia receive additional support. In addition to the costs for accommodation, meals, etc. that arise at the boarding school, there are school fees to be paid annually for students whose primary residence is outside Schleswig-Holstein. After the end of the Second World War, Fritz Brill founded the North Sea boarding school in Sankt Peter-Ording. This school was originally intended to serve refugee children from Berlin. After normal schools opened again and the Berlin children gradually moved away, the school became a boarding school. In 1950 Willi Lassen was appointed director - Lassen had experience with English boarding schools. Until 1952, the boarding school was housed in several rented buildings and barracks on Pestalozzistrasse. On August 31, 1952, the foundation stone was laid for the boarding school that still exists today. The Heidehaus was the first to be occupied on April 26, 1953. In the following years, the dune house, sun house, alder house, fir house, meadow house, dike house, birch house, farm building, administration building, workshops, creative center, sports hall and a recently completed cafeteria were built. There are various sports facilities on the boarding school grounds, such as a football and mini golf course, a tennis and basketball court, as well as several beach volleyball courts and a small skate park. Since the beginning, the boarding school and the local schools have maintained a very close relationship.
Focus of Study : With around 500 students and around 40 teachers in 20 classes, the North Sea School offers an almost family atmosphere and therefore fits perfectly with the concept of the North Sea boarding school. And because the children and young people here have nine years to complete their Abitur , the usual learning stress and pressure that is common today is eliminated. Success at school is possible here while having fun - also thanks to the great spatial conditions. Modern classrooms and specialist rooms, a state-of-the-art science department – the North Sea School is optimally equipped to give students the best foundation for a successful start to their professional lives.
Benefit, Goal of this course : In addition, the high school part of the North Sea School has the status of both a future school and a European school. This means that teaching is based, among other things, on a core European studies curriculum. In addition, the bilingual geography branch optionally teaches in English. In the upper secondary level, i.e. at the beginning of the 11th year, the students in the upper profile level specialize in a language, natural science or social science focus.
Curriculum : The North Sea School also offers a wide range of foreign languages, including English, French, Latin, Spanish and Chinese . English is taught from grade 5 onwards. From grade 7 onwards, either Latin or French is added as a second foreign language. And as an optional third foreign language, Latin, French, Spanish or Chinese can be learned from ninth grade onwards, depending on your previous choice. For all language enthusiasts, the Nordseegymnasium also offers Spanish from the eleventh grade. Particularly practical: For students who want to move on to the upper level with a secondary school leaving certificate (MSA) and have not yet learned a second foreign language, the high school offers its own entry option with Spanish as a new second foreign language. The large range of sports on offer with a modernized gymnastics and gymnastics hall as well as the competitive sports field with a synthetic track, throwing facility (discus, ball, hammer) and pole vaulting facility provide balance.
