St. George's is a coeducational and non-denominational school which is run independently from local or state financial support. School uniform is compulsory with the aim of improving discipline, reducing social exclusion and strengthening the identity of the school. It has schools in three German cities: Cologne, Duisburg and Munich. St. George's School Cologne was the first British boarding school in Germany.

This is an exciting time of change and development, as our students take greater ownership of their academic path and prepare to step into the world of university and career. It is the culmination of their time in school, and we ensure that it is used to its full potential. The Sixth Form provides the opportunity to explore new fields, broadening students’ experience and stimulating interest and inquiry. We offer a wide array of subjects and students can tailor their choices to suit their ability and aspirations. We offer students careful guidance in making these choices, to ensure that their personalised programme is the right one for them.
Curriculum : From Year 1 to Year 9, we follow the National Curriculum for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our Boarding House offers students a truly international boarding experience, within the expansive and secure grounds of St. George’s School. Our aim within the Boarding House is to produce mature, confident young adults, who are both self-motivated and socially responsible. We are aware that our students will be competing in an international market both at university and in the world of work. A St. George’s boarder will have the opportunities to develop the necessary skills and acumen to excel and succeed in life.
Surrounding Area
We provide a structured week for our boarding students which offers scheduled time for study, meals and activities as well as opportunities for time for relaxation. During this time, students can visit the local village, join local sports clubs and explore Cologne. Our older students enjoy additional privileges and have the independence to manage their own study, whilst being overseen by the boarding tutors. Younger students also receive support and intervention from our tutors and from senior students if they are encountering difficulties with aspects of their studies. Each term we provide a full programme of activities for our students. These include a range of competitions and events, from table tennis and Wii Dance-off competitions to Art competitions and musical performances. We offer to students regular weekend trips to popular local venues. These include go-karting, laser-tag and the English Cinema as well as the famous Phantasialand and Cologne Christmas Markets. We also take students further afield once a term, so that they can benefit from all that the area has to offer. This has included trips into the countryside in the mountainous region to the east of the city, and journeys to attractions within other parts of Nordrhein Westphalia.
Facilities
Our school facilities are excellent, and include a full size all-weather sports surface, sports hall, tennis and basketball courts. We also provide all students with access to high-speed wifi throughout all boarding house areas, and a fully equipped student common room, which includes a snooker table, large TV, table tennis table and games consoles. A fitted kitchen is also provided, in which our students are often found socialising, preparing food. They also learn to cook and bake with staff for our student competitions. Our resident students benefit from access to local sports clubs and facilities as well as open use of the extensive sports facilities within the school Campus. Students who excel in music and art are encouraged to spend time practising and pursuing these activities in their free time. They have access to the school music facilities in the evening and benefit from the use of several pianos on campus and well-equipped music rooms in which to practise.
Activity
We strongly believe in the importance of enrichment activities that compliment pupils’ academic development. We provide a wide range of diverse and exciting activities for pupils, designed to help them explore additional skills, talents or interest areas. Pupils are strongly encouraged to become engaged in the extra-curricular activities on offer in the school. Clubs take place at lunch time and after-school, and include sporting, creative or further academic activities. Sports clubs train teams who participate in a range of sporting fixtures against other schools and clubs throughout Germany and beyond. We also offer private instrumental lessons through external music teachers. These lessons take place during the school day. There are numerous opportunities to perform, including concerts, class and year group performances throughout the year.
