Carel Language School - ToulouseAbout the
CAREL (Centre Audiovisual de Royan pour l’Etude des Langues) was created in 1966 jointly by the university of Poitiers and Royan’s City Council. As soon as the University of Poitiers and Royan City Council had agreed to run CAREL jointly, the school became a pioneering centre for language teaching with audiovisual methods and priority was immediately given to oral expression and oral comprehension with language laboratories, a TV studio etc. From the very beginning, CAREL offered language training especially French for foreigners. Ministries, Embassies, cultural centres and many other international organisations entrusted CAREL with their language requirements. Then other languages (German, English, Spanish, Arabic and Russian) were also offered to French learners. In 1970, the CAREL reacted decisively to new market conditions and demands, adopting new techniques, using the most-up-to-date technologies to create its own audio-visual based contents for courses and meeting orders from large publishing houses. Then CAREL pursued its technological development by creating an information technology department and a multimedia resource centre. CAREL is now a multilingual centre that hosts over 50 countries every year from the five continents where French and international students meet for rich and varied cultural exchanges. With its interactive teaching methods and exceptional multimedia equipment CAREL belongs to the few highly efficient centres which really meet learners' needs.
Our intensive training offer is aimed at adults in a life-long learning process, but can also be accessed by students and individuals who wish to improve their linguistic skills. For French as Foreign Language , the course can be coupled with a work placement in a business (Duration 1-2 month)

Every trainee is followed by the Head of Department who ensures the training follows the timetable and programme offered. The Head of Department also remains at the disposal of training managers. Our training sessions are sampled on the common european framework of reference for language. A skill assessment and a course certificate are provided at the end of the course.
The training on site consists of 25 - 30 hours a week (including 5 hors of personalised workshops), with 5-6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. Trainees are divided into groups according to level, decided by our online test (12 trainees on average per group). The workshops are made up of personalised activities with access to audiovisual and digital resources within our Multimedia Resource Centre. The activities are supervised by a tutor, expert in the target language.

Accommodation
Host Family Selected on hospitality criteria, they offer students many opportunities to acquaint themselves with French life. Students will have their own room. The bathroom is shared with the host family and the kitchen is available if students want to prepare their own meals.
Shared accommodation Students share a house or a large flat with other foreign or French students. Students have their own room and the kitchen and the bathroom facilities are shared with the other students.
Self-controlled apartment Students choose between a studio in the Erasmus hall of residence or in town. This includes a kitchenette, a bathroom, toilet, and a bedroom. Linen and towels are not provided.
Surrounding Area
The CAREL is located close to the Royan railway station and 300 meters from downtown and the beaches. It is an air-conditioned building with 3 floors over 3000 m2 surrounded by lawns and parking lots.
Facilities
The building is functional with 21 sound-proof classrooms and equipped with computers (internet access, video-projectors and LCD screens, audio and video players). The school has a new language laboratory, a multimedia laboratory, a multimedia resource centre, a TV studio and a cafeteria.
Activitiy
There is a number of the activities that students can enjoy while studying in Carel Language School. These activities are included dancing, diving, golf, horse riding, music, tennis, volleyball and so on.
Getting to school from the airport
Most of the students use the airport of Bordeaux. It would take 90 minutes by car to Carel Language School.
I’m a junior, majoring French Language and Culture. After
finishing the first semester of junior year, I went to France for the language
study. The school also provides the exchange program, but it isn’t easy to
select which part of France I want to study in, or the school I want to study
in. That is why I chose Study Destiny to help me find the school. Carel
Language Institution is in Toulouse, France. Toulouse has beach nearby, and the
city itself if really beautiful. It has that typical French style and
atmosphere. Before going to France, my French level was still a beginner stage.
After a level test, students get placed in the appropriate class. In a week,
there are total 25-30 hours of classes that consist of communicative French,
grammar, pronunciation, writing and advanced French. I was expecting many Asian
students, but there were also many European students. There were many students
from Spain and Germany, even from the USA. At first, I was so overwhelmed by
the atmosphere. However, the school provided many socials, so I was able to
make friends easily. Later, I lived in a flat with the friends I got close to. It
was really fun. There are also many club activities in the school, which is
also a good experience. The school itself is very pretty and the facilities are
excellent. I strongly recommend Carel Linguistic Institution.
저는 프랑스 어문학과 3학년에 재학중인 학생입니다. 3학년 1학기 마친후에 6개월간 프랑스로 어학연수 다녀왔어요. 학교에서 연결해주는 프로그램도 있긴한데 원하는 지역이나 원하는 학교를 선택할 수 없기 때문에 스터디 데스티니를 통해서 다녀왔습니다. Carel 어학원은 프랑스 뚤루즈에 있고 해변가에 있어요. 도시 자체가 너무 예쁘고 프랑스스럽다고 해야하나 정말 예쁜 곳이에요. 저는 프랑스어를 2년동안 공부하고 갔지만 아직 초~중급 단계의 수준이었어요. 레벨테스트를 치룬 후에 배정된 클라스에 들어가서 월-금동안 하루에 6시간정도 프랑스어 수업을 듣게되요. 1주일에 총 25-30 시간정도 수업을 듣게되고 커뮤니케이션에 필요한 프랑스어, 문법구조, 발음, 작문, 고급프랑스어에 대해 전반적으로 배우게되요. 학교에 왠지 아시아인들이 많을 줄 알았는데 중국인,한국인 말고는 거의다 유럽에서 온 친구들이 많았어요. 독일,스페인에서 온 친구들도 굉장히 많고 미국에서 온 학생들도 있었어요. 처음에는 너무 생소하고 낯설어서 친해지기 어려울줄 알았는데 학교에서 교류회를 계속해서 제공해주어서 외국인 친구들하고도 친해질수 있었어요. 그래서 친해진 친구들과 같이 주택에서 살았는데 너무너무 재밌었어요. 학교에서 부활동같은 것도 많이 하게되는데 골프나 테니스도 배우고, 춤을 배우는친구도 있고 음악을 배우는 친구도 있었어요. 학교자체도 너무 예쁘고 학교 시설도 엄청 깨끗하고 좋아요. carel에서 공부하게 되시면 절대 후회하지 않으실거에요.
