Surrounding Area
The south coast of Devon is a great place to learn English. You will use your new language skills while you discover an area that is typically English, yet feels more like the south of France. It’s a great place to study, and a great place to enjoy your vacation: the perfect location for a language holiday.
Torbay is really three towns: Paignton, Torquay and Brixham. They have a combined population of 135,000.
Paignton is the holiday centre of the bay, with the longest beaches, one of the largest zoos in Britain and a really friendly atmosphere.
Torquay is home to the grandest houses, smartest shops and trendiest night spots, so it is known as the ‘Queen of the Riviera’.
Brixham is the smallest Riviera town and is one of Britain’s key fishing ports, with lovely coastal walks from its pretty harbour.
