- Tamwood's English school in Whistler is located in the center of North America's number one holiday resort destination, and is only two hours by car from Vancouver. The Whistler English school is open year round for general English programs taught by qualified and caring teachers. From December to May, the school also offers adult students English classes combined with professionally taught ski and snowboard instruction and the Level 1 Ski/Snowboard Instructor certification courses.
Conditional Admission
Tamwood University Pathway Program consists of 2 levels:
Pre-University Pathway Program (Pre-UPP)
12 weeks - 32 lessons / week - successful graduates can achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher and can progress to UPP or directly into specific university/college programs.
Entry Requirement: high intermediate English (IELTS 5-5.5) 1
University Pathway Program
12 weeks - 32 lessons/week - successful graduates achieve an IELTS 6.5 or higher and enter a university or college program.
Entry Requirement: Low advanced English (IELTS 5.5-6) 2

Tamwood has two types of agreements with University and College partners*.
University/College accepts Tamwood’s Pre-UPP or UPP graduates (NO IELTS or TOEFL requirement) AND issues Conditional Acceptance Letters for Tamwood students.University/College issues Conditional Acceptance letters before Pre-UPP/UPP students have the required TOEFL or IELTS. This gives Tamwood students the advantage of knowing they have a space reserved in their chosen program. Students must submit IELTS or TOEFL score to gain admission to their chosen academic program.

Tamwood Student Residence
Make good friends fast by living with other Tamwood students! Our residence is a huge house in a very nice Whistler neighbourhood. Students travel between the residence and school by bus (20 min) or bike.
Residence Features: 6 spacious bedroom, 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, dining area, living room plus a study den, , two large outdoor decks, free WiFi and a large storage space for sports gear. Each bedroom is shared and has 3 or 4 beds. The students are responsible for cooking and cleaning for themselves. There is a Residence Manager living on site. The Student Residence is recommended for students 19 years and older.
Homestay
Homestay students are placed with carefully selected Canadian families that offer a secure and friendly environment. Students are provided with a private bedroom, bathroom facilities, meals and contact with English speaking Canadians every day. As Whistler is such a popular ski resort with more hotels than homes, the number of available host families in Whistler is limited so you should book quick!
