Colorado School Of English About the
Colorado School of English began offering classes in January, 1994. Colorado School of English strives to meet the individual needs of each and every student. With CSE's emphasis on conversation and self-expression, students will develop confidence and actually enjoy learning English. Colorado School of English classes are accelerated, and students may move to the next level as soon as they are ready; it's not necessary to wait until the beginning of a new term. CSE's friendly staff and teachers are always available to assist students and help make the most of their experience at CSE. Denver is home to many nationally recognized museums, including the new wing of the Denver Art Museum designed by world-renowned architect, Daniel Libeskind. It also boasts the second largest performing arts center in the nation, after Lincoln Center in New York City. Bustling neighborhoods such as LoDo, close to the school, are filled with art galleries, restaurants, bars, and clubs.
TOEFL preparation is available to students at the advanced level. Spoken English is emphasized in all classes. Students will learn grammar in context, by using it in speaking and writing. They will practice their grammar by doing exercises and written essays at home as well as practicing using the language in class. All students are tested, interviewed, and placed in the appropriate level class for each subject area. The Intensive English Program is accelerated. This means that students may advance through the levels at any pace. Students can move to the advanced level as quickly as possible, and they won't have to wait for the end of a term. They can start at a beginning level and graduate from the advanced level in just 6 months. Field trips are free for Intensive English Program students. Activities include professional soccer, baseball, American football or basketball games. Students can ski in the winter and camp or take raft trips on the Colorado River in the summer. Activities may also include movies at the school, museums and concerts, or just volleyball and a picnic in the park with classmates. The Intensive English Program allows open entry and open exit. Students can begin any Monday and finish any time. Some students come to Colorado School of English to study for 2 weeks; others stay for a full year. Most students pay tuition every 4 weeks until they have reached their language goals.

This ensures that students will have many opportunities to speak, ask questions, and have their mistakes corrected. Classes are very mixed, with students coming from all parts of the world. Meet students from a variety of cultures and countries, and make friends for life.Students are placed in one of 3 levels based on their placement test with 10 to 15 students in each class. All students must be 17 years or older.

Homestays (living in the home of an American family) are an excellent way to immerse into American culture, understand the customs of the United States, practice their English, and have a direct support system to help students adapt to the cultural differences between their home country and the U.S. Colorado School of English arranges for students to stay with a family that lives near the school. The host family will help the students to get acquainted with the American way of life.
Off Campus apartment and hotels
There are many apartment buildings within walking distance of CSE. They range in price from $475 per month for one-room studios to well over $1000 for upscale apartments. Students can use any of the following Web sites to find apartments. When searching for apartments or hotels, remember that CSE is in the heart of downtown Denver. Please note that most apartments require a minimum stay of 6 months. Be sure to ask if utilities are included or not.
