The University of the Incarnate World is a private Catholic university located within the city of San Antonio and the town of Alamo Heights in the state of Texas. The university has over 93 Sister schools around the world and its study abroad program is unmatched in the San Antonio area. One of the more popular programs is the John Cabot University study abroad program in Rome, Italy. As of Fall 2009, the university was the largest Catholic university and the fourth largest private university in the state of Texas. In keeping with the spirit of charity all students who graduate from UIW are required to volunteer a certain number of hours in the community before graduating.The University is home to the Rosenberg School of Optometry, the Feik School of Pharmacy, the AT&T Math, Science, & Engineering center, The Dreeben School of Education, The H.E.B. School of Business, The Christus Santa Rosa Nursing School, and the School of Interactive Media & Design. Description: Shared typical on campus dorm room. Shared suite-style bathrooms (4 students use). Rooms include two bunkable
beds, chairs, desks, two sets of built-in drawers, and closets. There is one data computer jack per student and basic cable TV service. Linens are also included. Self- service laundry machines are available in the
same dorm building for a small fee. Security: There is one resident assistant for each floor - 2 for approximately 30 students. The residence hall is magnetically locked and is only accessible with a coded student ID that each student receives from the RA upon
arrival. The campus police station is located across from Marian Hall and the ELS center. After 11 pm vehicles entering campus must show student ID.

ELS/San Antonio is located in the prestigious Alamo Heights neighborhood on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio. The city is a thriving cultural center with a laid-back atmosphere and friendly people. San Antonio has celebrations all year long: Fiesta, Rodeo, Cinco de Mayo, Festival of Mud, Martin Luther King parade, Folklife Festival and more. ELS students enjoy visiting the 3.2-km River Walk’s sidewalk cafes, nightclubs, specialty stores and boutiques. San Antonio enjoys a modified subtropical climate with average temperature of 21°C. Summers are hot, but rarely over 38°C. Winter temperatures only drop below freezing about 20 days each year. The mild climate encourages casual dress. Shorts, sandals and sunglasses are common. Heavier clothing is suggested for classrooms, which are all air-conditioned, and for the moderate winter months.
