Students from all over the world with different nationality and cultural background have chosen ELS program to study English in a new Environment. Majority of the students come from Asian countries including Japan (30%), Taiwan (25%) and Korea (20%). Some students from Central America (6%), Europe(9%) and Middle eastern countries (4%) have also chose ELS to enrich their English skills.
Conditional Admission
With over level 112 in ELS, students can be accepted to Bachelor and Master's programs. Both Undergraduate and Graduate schools issue a CLA to students.

College of Mount Saint Vincent is a Catholic liberal arts college located in the northwest corner of the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York. It is the northernmost location in the New York City and was founded by the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1847. 제가 어학연수를 다녀온 학교의 이름은 College of Mount St. Vincent (마운튼 세인트 빈센트 칼리지 ) 이구요, 뉴욕에 위치하고 있습니다.
학교의 프로그램은 인텐시브 영어 프로그램 (General English, 30 lessons per week ) 으로 28주동안 다녀오게 되었습니다.
학교를 선택한 이유들을 꼽차면 첫번째로 카톨릭을 중심으로 한 대학교 라는 것, 저는 어려서 부터 카톨릭 신자로써
한국 학교도 물론 카톨릭 관련 대학으로 다니고 있습니다. 미국에 가서도 신앙을 중심으로 한 바른 학교를 다니고 싶은 마음에 선택 하였습니다.
또한 저의 전공이 간호학인데 이 학교는 간호, 사업, 통신 및 교육학의 전문적인 대학교 라는 점에서 저에게는 매우 매력적이었습니다.
일반 어학연수 뿐만 아니라 여러 정보도 얻고 그리고 직업 관련된 정보도 얻을 수 있을 것이라 생각했습니다.
또한 , 지리적인 위치가 워싱턴 D.C, 필라델피아, 보스턴, 해변가, 그리고 산등으로 가깝고 뉴욕 여러 명소와도 가까워서 여행을 하기 쉽다는 점 이었습니다.
프로그램에 대하여 말하자면 인텐시브 영어 프로그램 (General English, 30 lessons per week) 은 비즈니스와 사회적인 상황에서 매일 의사 소통하는데 필요로 하는 스킬에 집중함으로써 학생들의 영어를 향상시켜주고 오전 수업은 단어 향상과 언어 구조와 함께 듣기와 말하기 등을 배웠습니다.
마스터 수준의 경우, 오전에는 하나의 기술 강화 수업을 듣게 됩니다. 오후에는 모든 수준의 학생들이 기술 강화 수업을 듣는 것으로 알고 있습니다.
일단 빠른 시간에 더 많은 것을 체계적으로 배울 수 있다는 점에서 인텐시브 영어 프로그램 수업이 매우 매력적이었습니다.
천천히 배워가는 프로그램도 있었지만 저는 시간도 촉박했기 때문에 이 프로그램을 선택하였습니다.

이런식으로 나뉘게 되는데 비지니스 영어를 많이 배워서 도움이 많이 되었어요.
책자도 많이 인용하여서 읽고 신문 그리고 미국의 문화 등도 많이 배울 수 있었습니다.
저는 학교 기숙사를 사용하였구요, 일부러 3인이 쉐어하는 스타일을 선택하였습니다.
친구들도 많이 사귀고 영어도 많이 늘 수 있을 것 같아서 그랬습니다. ㅎㅎ
덕분에 많이 친구도 사귀고 돌아온 지금까지도 함께 연락 하는 친구들이 많아요.
후기를 쓰며 한번더 어학연수를 생각해 보았는데요, 아무래도 잘 한 결정 같아서 후회가 없습니다!
