The International Education Center at Diablo Valley College (IEC) opened in 2000, and since then has welcomed students from more than 40 countries. IEC works closely with DVC, and the English language program, homestay and activity programs are carefully planned to prepare international students for successful academic life. DVC’s central location puts it minutes from the wide variety of activities the area offers.
The intensive 8-week program will focus on: Persuasive speaking, Strategies for writing research papers and note taking, Presentation skills, Critical analysis, Pronunciation and fluency, Perfecting grammar, Increasing vocabulary and Maximizing listening comprehension.

Curriculum :
Whether focusing on studying English to improve academic success, or achieving career goals, IEC''s course of study can help students to reach their goal. IEC offers 6 levels of English courses; students are administered a proficiency test during orientation which determines their course level at IEC. Upon completing Advanced B, students may enter Diablo Valley College without a TOEFL score or IELTS score. Each course is 8 weeks in duration with emphasis on Reading, Writing & Grammar, Listening & Speaking is only offered as a midday course. There's 10 to 15 students in each class.

24 hours per week, course schedule may vary for each level.

Most IEC students choose to live in a house with a homestay family or in a furnished apartment with other international students near IEC and DVC. Homestay placements are provided by Diablo Valley Homestay and apartment placements are provided by Rexidence Residental Services. Both options provide students with an affordable, safe, and quality living accommodation.
