Through its partnership with Marylhurst University, Pacific International Academy (PIA) offers an engaging English language and culture training program for international students whose first language is not English. PIA also offers language assessment through in-house standardized testing. In addition to orienting students toward the demands of academic life in English as a second language, PIA provides students with a variety of services including conversation partner and homestay programs. PIA is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). PIA is a member of Oregon Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ORTESOL); the Association of International Educators (NAFSA); and the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).

The university hosts an array of musical, literary and other cultural events in St. Anne's Chapel, Wiegand Lecture & Recital Hall, Flavia Salon and Clark Commons. The Lajos Balogh Performance Shell is a wonderful venue for outdoor theatrical and musical performances. The Marylhurst Bookstore also offers an inviting meeting space that hosts small events. The Art Gym, recipient of the 2005 Governor's Arts Award, is a showcase for Pacific Northwest artists. More than a dozen student organizations operate on campus.
Activity
PIA provides frequent trips to scenic areas around Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. These excursions include skiing or sledding trips in the winter, hiking in the spring, camping or day trips to ocean beaches in the summer, and river rafting trips in the fall. All students are encouraged to join these activities.
