Residence hall
With a variety of dining choices and services such as free Internet, free cable TV, and more, living on campus is a great value. Residence halls offer the convenience of being on campus, close to classes, food courts and other dining locations, recreational opportunities, and entertainment. There are no monthly cable bills to pay, meals to prepare, or pots and pans to wash.
University apartments
University Apartments are the most cost-efficient rentals in town. Many places require residents to pay their own utilities, but the rent includes electricity, heat, water, sewage, and trash removal. This housing option also provides free Internet service, free cable TV, and other helpful amenities. The apartments are conveniently located on the north end of the campus, along Ball State shuttle and city bus routes and near local shopping, restaurants, and popular hangouts. They're also close to Muncie city schools. Five floor plans with one, two, or three bedrooms are available, including larger townhouse-style units as well as apartments for residents with disabilities. And like the Ball State campus, the buildings are tobacco-free.
Surrounding Area
A drive down McKinley Avenue is worth a thousand words. The welcoming north gateway, the duck pond often surrounded by students, the majestic bell tower, and the bustling brick sidewalks offer a taste of Ball State’s vibrant, friendly campus. Along the way, student’ll see some of BSU's newest and coolest facilities as well as classic architecture and landmarks that reveal the university’s history and traditions. With an event calendar full of attractions such as Broadway shows, NCAA Division I athletics, blues legends, Russian National Ballet performances, and professional comedians, Ball State brings excitement to Muncie that most Midwestern cities would envy, without forgoing any of that college charm. The Village, located right on the edge of campus, offers plenty of places to eat and hang out with friends. The Tally on the first floor of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center showcases comedians, bands, and other entertainers. Christy Woods arboretum and the Duck Pond are just a couple of places where students can enjoy nature; there’s also the University Green where one can take in an outdoor concert. And then there’s Late Nite, the best bash on campus. Every Saturday night students can take advantage of free entertainment. Activities include everything from bowling and billiards to DJs and dancing and, of course, free food.
