Founded in 1898 as Decatur Baptist College, Dallas Baptist University currently operates campuses in Dallas, Plano, and Hurst.The university is divided into seven colleges: the Mary C. Crowley College of Christian Faith, the Dorothy M. DBU's Residence halls provide a vibrant community aimed to serve students in their academic journey as they transition to Dallas Baptist University. The Residence Halls are filled with a variety of students including new freshman, transfer students, returning upperclassmen, and even international students. Each Residence Hall is overseen by a Resident Director and additionally, each individual wing is overseen by a Resident Assistant. These individuals help foster relationships with new and returning students as well as aid in the adjusting to university life.

DBU's Apartment-style housing provides students with a unique opportunity to transition from the University Residence Halls into upperclassman housing. From the picturesque neighborhood setting and residential living, the University Apartments offer a variety of options for students to live in both the Colonial Village and Mabee Village neighborhoods. John and Nita Ford Village
On a beautiful twenty-acre area of land on the east side of campus sits Ford Village, DBU’s first Residential College. Often referred to as Living-Learning Communities, Residential Colleges have a tradition spanning back to the founding of the English college system in Oxford and Cambridge, in which students of similar vocational callings lived together.
