University of West Florida About the
The UWF provides a learning ground for more than 400 international students from 90 countries around the world. There are five departments, which offer more than 50 graduate degree programs, with 13,000 students devoted to their studies. We maximize the efficiency of education by providing the optimal learning environment not exceeding 40 students per class. The 1,600-acre main campus (double its nature reserve) is equipped with a 10,000-square-foot spacious fitness center, racquetball court, 38-foot indoor rock wall and indoor jogging track, as well as state-of-the-art health and leisure sports facilities for students.
The UWF Intensive English Program is designed to help international students go to college or graduate school easily, and it focuses on comprehensively improving their English skills, namely speaking, listening, and writing. It also focuses on TOEFL tests required to enter many universities in the United States, and at the same time, there are five levels to meet each student's needs, so you can enroll according to your skills and advance to a level suitable for each semester. In addition to this program, students are provided with opportunities for various extracurricular activities, providing opportunities to apply the acquired English in their daily lives, as well as to gain vivid access to American culture.
Curriculum :
The Intensive English Program offers five levels of instruction, beginning through advanced.
Students are given an Entry English Placement Test (EPT) on the first day of class, and the results are used to determine students' level placements.
Students who are stronger in one skill than another may be placed in different levels for each skill.
Advancement to the next level of instruction is based on academic performance, meeting level completion requirements, attendance, instructor recommendations, and Exit EPT results.
During most semesters, full-time students usually take twenty hours (20) per week of classes in English, reading, writing, grammar, in addition to listening and speaking.
Very low teacher-to-student ratio with less than 10 students per class.
