Study and learn English in the U.S.A. at the International Language Institute (ILI, MD) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC! The International Language Institute, MD, is a school for students of English from all over the world. We have been teaching intensive, semi-intensive, community and private English classes in Maryland since 1995. We have several English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to choose from, including TOEFL preparation. Our English courses are available during the day, in the evening, and on Saturdays. We are located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which is in Montgomery County and only 15 miles from Washington, DC. We are authorized under Federal law to enroll individuals with a student visa as well as other non-immigrant foreign students.

The International Language Institute, MD, was founded in 1995 under the name “English House.” It now belongs to Transemantics, Inc. which also owns the International Language Institute (ILI) in Washington, DC. We continue to provide the same personalized service to each of our students. We know each of our students well. We care about their lives outside of the school, as well as the progress that they are making with the English language. Our Intensive English Program (IEP) covers all of the basic language skill areas: speaking, listening, reading, grammar, and writing. In addition, we include conversation, vocabulary development, American idioms, American culture, pronunciation, and TOEFL Preparation for advanced levels. Our methodology is practice-based. We offer five levels, from beginner to advanced.
Each level is 16 weeks or 320 hours in length: the equivalent of one college semester. There are four 4-week sessions for each level. New sessions begin every four weeks. IEP classes meet from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
For this program, the International Language Institute, MD is authorized, under Federal Law, to enroll students with the F-1 student visa. The International Language Institute, however, does not require students who wish to enroll in this program to have student visas.

Homestay includes a private bedroom, breakfast every day and dinner five days per week. To apply for Homestay, simply fill out the Homestay Application Form or download and print the PDF Homestay application. Please remember to be very specific and thorough. Your answers will help us to find the most compatible host family for you. A $150 placement fee and a deposit of one week of Homestay in the amount of $260 are due with the application. Without the payment of $410, the application cannot be processed.
