About the  University of Northampton

  • The University of Northampton is a public university based in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. It was formed in 1999 by the amalgamation of a number of training colleges, and gained full university status as the University of Northampton in 2005.Until 2018 the university had three main sites: Avenue Campus, just north of the town centre, opposite a large open park known as the Racecourse; Park Campus in Kingsthorpe to the north of the town which was the main and largest campus and an Innovation centre opposite Northampton railway station. The Avenue and Park campuses were replaced by the new Waterside campus in 2018.In the 2012 Guardian University League Table, the university was ranked first for 'value added' in UK.
    The university was awarded 'The Outstanding HEI Supporting Social Entrepreneurship Award' at the UnLtd/HEFCE ‘Dare to be Different’ national conference in June 2011 and has also been named the Midlands most 'Enterprising University of the Year' for both 2011 and 2012, in recognition of its work in social enterprise. In February 2013, the university received international recognition for its commitment to social innovation and entrepreneurship by being designated a 'Changemaker Campus' by Ashoka U. Northampton is the first Changemaker Campus in the UK and joins a global network of 21 other Changemaker Campuses.

  • Focus of Study :
    The Pre-sessional English Programme (PEP) will help you to develop your competence and confidence using English in an academic setting, so that you can study any of our undergraduate or postgraduate courses.Successful completion of the programme will demonstrate that you have satisfied our English Language requirements.  In addition, you will have become familiar with the culture of UK Higher Education and will be equipped with the tools to help you succeed in your studies.

    St. John’s Halls (NN1 1DH) are situated in the heart of Northampton – on the doorstep of the town’s Cultural Quarter, and close to supermarkets, restaurants and shops.Our town centre accommodation is only a short five minute walk through nearby Beckets Park to Waterside campus for lectures and on-campus activities, and you will still be supported by our 24-hour Security and Residential Life teams.St. John’s Halls includes flats with single en-suite rooms, and single and twin studio flats, all complete with halls facilities and service

    UON OFF-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATION
    Scholars Green Student Village (NN2 7AG) is situated in the nearby suburb of Kingsthorpe, so is suitable for those who would like a quieter living environment or have a tighter budget .Situated approximately 4.5 miles from Waterside, our student village has a free Uno bus service which runs frequently to the campus; as well as a convenience store and postroom, and halls facilities and services. Scholars Green Halls (Simon Senlis, Spencer Perceval, and William Carey) rooms include single en-suites with communal kitchen, and twin en-suite ‘bedsits’; Simon Senlis also offers single studio flats.
