Conditional admission

  • ILAC has two types of agreements with University and College partners.
    School accepts Pathway Certificate (NO IELTS or TOEFL requirement) AND issues Conditional Acceptance Letters for ILAC students.
    School issues Conditional Acceptance letters before students have the required TOEFL or IELTS. This gives ILAC students the advantage of knowing they have a space reserved in their chosen program.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study : 
    The General English as a Second Language curriculum follows Cambridge examination methodology. All students in Beginner and Intermediate levels take General English before taking more advanced courses. General English is for Levels 1 - 11.

    Curriculum : 
    Principal Class (26 lessons per week) + Elective Class (4 lessons per week)
    Principal Class
    Choose a Program Focus for your Principal Class, depending on your Level and area of interest. (General English, Business English, TOEFL, IELTS preparation, Pathway, etc.)
    Elective Class
    Choose an Elective Class based on your individual needs: Speaking, Listening, Pronunciation, Grammar, Writing, Vocabulary, Idioms, Business, TOEFL, IELTS, Oral Presentations, English the Media, Debating, Current Events and more

在學校上課時我也喜歡與同學互動。西方社會的上課方式和東方社會有很大的差別,在加拿大,老師喜歡同學上課多發言討論,提出自己的看法,即使看法不同,老師也會鼓勵並尊重不同的意見。另外,老師也喜歡同學分組討論,在上課中發表,這樣可以培養學生自己主動思考及團體合作的能力。一般在台灣,老師通常是只授課,學生回家複習並準備考試,無形之中減少了不少學習的樂趣。而在課堂上有不懂的地方,下課時也可找老師討論,加拿大的老師都非常樂意在下課時間讓同學來問問題,上課若有不懂的地方可於下課時間找老師發問。
要融入當地生活,免不了一定要用英文溝通,所以我建議多與當地同學互動,交朋友,多參加社區活動、校內社團或旅行等,都有幫助。像每年的滑雪旅行是我最期待的活動,不只可以去多倫多著名的雪場滑雪,也可以更加增進同學們之間的感情。另外,如果是住在寄宿家庭,也可與家庭成員多練習英語對話。我那時會每天固定用完晚餐之後跟寄宿家庭的爸爸媽媽聊天一小時,時間久了英文就會慢慢進步。對於不懂的地方我也會隨時問人,加拿大人都非常友善,也非常樂於回答問題。
