Over 3,000 students from 75 different countries come to UTS:INSEARCH every year to prepare for university. Each year over 90% of our diploma graduates achieve the marks required to articulate into UTS.

The new Engineering and IT building is home to the most advanced data arena facility in Australia, a disruptive technology lab and software development studio. The new Science and Graduate School of Health  building features the latest advanced laboratories, including a ‘super lab’, one of only two in Australia. The Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry, is home to the UTS Business School and features innovative teaching and learning spaces.

UTS’s model of learning encourages dynamic teaching and integrating theory with practice to deliver a real-world education across many platforms of learning. Many teachers are experts in their professional field, enriching the learning experience with access to the most current industry expertise and networks.

UTS maintains strong relationships with local industry and the professions. More than 150 companies partner with UTS, sharing their resources and providing expertise. UTS’s industry partnerships offer students the opportunity to engage with experts and access cutting-edge facilities on campus. Industry advisory committees also help shape course content to ensure students are learning current and industry best practice.

General English prepares you for the Academic English (AE) Program, with a focus on the development of basic listening and speaking skills. 

Students may enter the course from beginner to lower intermediate levels. IELTS and TOEFL test scores act as a guide to place you at the correct level to start your course. If you do not have an IELTS or TOEFL score you will be asked to sit a short placement test on arrival.

20 hours per week

Homestay is a cultural exchange in which a student visiting or temporarily residing in another country lives with a local family in the host country. Homestay students pay to live in the home as well as any expenses they incur. Homestay is also the most popular accommodation option for international students.

- It's the perfect way to make new friends (or as we say "mates") - many of our homestay students stay in touch with their host Australian families long after they leave.

- For those who are learning English - It's a great way to practice your English language skills every day in a fun, relaxed home environment.

- Homestay students can experience what it's really like living with an Australian family. You can learn all about their family life and values; interact with people of different ages; and share their own culture and interests.

- Ideal for students who are under 18 years old - so you have family to look out for you while you are here.

UTS:INSEARCH students can also apply for accommodation at Urbanest or Iglu (popular with UTS students). Please note however that there are a limited number of reserved beds available and that only Urbanest has a preferred rate ($370/week all bills included for a 6 or 12 month contract) for UTS and UTS:INSEARCH students.

These apartments are not operated by UTS:INSEARCH or UTS, however they primarily accommodate students, so your neighbours are likely to be fellow students from any of the universities or colleges in the area.

As Sydney was rated third best city in the world to live in (2011 City Rep Trak index), it’s no surprise that students from over 200 international backgrounds come to live and study in Sydney. Renowned for its unique combination of urban and outdoor living, culturally diverse and friendly community, Sydney is a fun and inspiring city in which to live and study. The beautiful harbour, pristine beaches and temperate climate mean you will be able to enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle, while a vibrant social and cultural scene, with museums, theatres, galleries, and hundreds of restaurants, bars and cafes will give you the chance to meet and make new friends, no matter what your interests.

Sydney is also Australia’s number one business destination. With many multinational companies located here, it accounts for 30% of the country’s economic activity. This gives UTS:INSEARCH access to some of Australia’s finest industry professionals.

You can enjoy the latest technology at your fingertips. All students have access to up-to-date student computer labs and high-speed wireless internet throughout the campus.

You can also make use of the latest innovations at UTS including iconic new buildings that house cutting edge facilities, research tools and collaborative spaces to help you learn.

The UTS:INSEARCH Activities Club is a free, student-led social group with a strong belief that if we work hard, we deserve a bit of play too! Have fun, meet friends and get involved in organising:

You can join a club, go along to meetings and parties, take on a position of leadership, and most importantly, have fun.
