EF International Language Center - Santa Barbara About the

  • In the early 1960s, a young swedish man named Bertil Hult went to UK for the first time. I was a student who always had had difficulties in studying because of dyslexia. But surprisingly in UK he learned English with not that many difficulties. So he became sure that traditional teaching method in classes is not always effective and decided to establish a small company named Europeiska Ferieskolan (European Holiday School or EF) combining language education and traveling abroad. Bertil made a programme that provides field study outside a class and named it Sprakresor, that is to say Language Travel. Today, field study is the foundation of modern education. It has been philosophy supporting all EF programs for 50 years.
Study English at Boston language school and learn in the heart of American academia. More than just traditional English courses, exam preparation and EF English courses for business ready students for their future, whether they plan to be in a corporate boardroom or Harvard lecture hall. The Boston language school campus is located on 17 manicured acres and housed in a historical building, matching the iconic red-brick architecture found throughout the city. The classic academic look of Boston language school campus rivals that of top American universities. Many of English courses in Boston are held in a stately lecture hall, and iLabs, student lounges and full-service cafeteria complete the campus experience. Active students benefit from onsite recreation fields and the public basketball and tennis courts just across the street from the school.

Conditional admission

  • Gain the academic English and university preparation skills you need for entrance into an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an English-speaking country with EF's University Preparation Programs. These programs combine advanced English courses with language and entrance exam preparation. EF guidance counselors advise students throughout the process, ensuring that essays are exceptional and application deadlines are met. Successful graduates are guaranteed entry to one of EF's partner universities in the USA and Canada.
