Location

Accommodation

  • English Language Institute students live with American and other international students in one of Yale’s twelve residential colleges. Yale dormitories, called residential colleges, are the foundation of Yale's social and intellectual life. They foster a sense of community and serve as a focal point for both informal and planned activities. Each has a Summer Master who supervises the Yale students who serve as residential counselors. Together they are responsible for the well-being of the summer residents. Student rooms are furnished with a twin bed, mattress, pillow, blanket, dresser, desk,  and chair. Each suite is equipped with jacks for telephone and Ethernet service. Computer clusters with printers are available in the residential colleges and libraries; students may also bring their own computers. Students living on campus are required to have a full 21-meal per week contract, which provides breakfast, lunch (or brunch) and dinner seven days a week.

Surrounding Area

  • Yale is situated in the heart of New Haven, which is about two hours from both New York, to the west, and Boston, to the north. The Yale Shuttle can take students all over campus and to parts of the city for free. New Haven has been home to Yale University for nearly three centuries. As a center for business and a mecca for the arts, New Haven is recognized as a city of innovation, culture and prosperity. Approximately 20 square miles with nearly 130,000 residents and conveniently located between Boston and New York, New Haven is “large enough to be interesting, yet small enough to be friendly.”New Haven is a great place to live, work, do business, and enjoy life. We hope this site will give you a sense of New Haven’s diverse offerings including culture, community and residential areas, and services.
