About the  The Center for English Language & Orientation Programs

  • Established in 1975, the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP) provides outstanding English language instruction to over 400 students from around the world each semester. The CELOP curriculum is designed to enable students to attain their maximum learning potential while receiving a high degree of personalized attention from professional and experienced CELOP instructors. While attending CELOP, students study a particular area of the English language by selecting a concentration. CELOP students truly experience life at an American university by gaining full access to all Boston University facilities including 27 libraries, multimedia computer labs with Internet access, and the campus athletic center. CELOP students are encouraged to get involved in one of the University's 400 student-run sports or cultural clubs, join fellow CELOP classmates in weekly book club meetings or participate in one of many CELOP's trips around Boston. CELOP is a proud member of UCIEP, a U.S. consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs known for its high professional standards and quality English language instruction. CELOP instructors are highly-qualified, experienced professionals who are all Boston University faculty members. All instructors hold graduate degrees and have extensive experience teaching English to international students. Many CELOP instructors are internationally recognized ESL textbook authors, educational conference speakers and are regularly consulted for their expertise in the ESL field.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    This program will help students develop the skills, fluency, and confidence you need to communicate effectively in English. It consists of morning core classes and afternoon elective classes. The studnet will improve his or her overall abilities in both spoken and written English, as well as the student's understanding of U.S. culture.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    After completing the program, most students will be better prepared to use English at work, in school, or among international friends.

    Curriculum : 
    CELOP teachers use a variety of materials for instruction and practice in all essential skill areas: listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Course materials may include textbooks, magazine and newspaper articles, the Internet, ESL software, radio and television programs, and movies.

    Classroom Hour :
    Students in the Intensive Program (EN020) take afternoonclasses on Mon/Wed/Fri OR Tue/Tur.

Accommodation

  • University housing is available to all full-time CELOP students. Students living in on-campus dormitories will be close to classes, campus activities, and other students - both American and international. CELOP may provide information about homestay options and private off-campus apartments, however, it is the students' responsibility to make their own arrangements. 

Surrounding Area

  • The Boston University campus is situated in the heart of Boston, a city widely considered as one of the most desirable cities to live in the United States. Internationally recognized as the educational capital of the United States, Boston is home to more than 60 colleges and universities, creating an atmosphere rich with artistic, social and intellectual opportunities. Outside of the classroom, CELOP students can explore America's early history by walking the Freedom Trail, attend a performance at the Boston Ballet, cheer on the Red Sox, Boston's professional baseball team at Fenway Park, shop along elegant Newbury Street or simply relax in the Public Garden. There are many opportunities for weekend trips along the East Coast, where students can go sightseeing in New York, feast on lobster in Maine, hike New Hampshire's White Mountains, or ski the slopes of Vermont. All of these destinations are an easy drive or bus ride from the BU campus.


Facilities

  • Full-time CELOP student will have full access to all BU facilities and resources, allowing him or her to truly experience life at a United States university.

National Mix

  • CELOP hosts 400 to 600 students from around the world each semester. Recently, students have come to CELOP from Asia (55%), Latin America (21%), the Middle East (13%), Europe (9%) and Africa (2%).

Getting to the school from the airport, 3D School view

  • It is the student’s responsibility to arrange transportation from the airport to campus. Taxis are available from the airport that will cost approximately US$25 and arrive on campus in approximately 20 minutes. Subways that run on limited schedules are also available.

A、はい。
ボストンはヨーロッパの雰囲気を残す文化活動の中心であり、アメリカでも有名な大学が揃う学園都市でもあります。
芸術博物館、イザベラ・スチュワート・ガードナー博物館には、世界的に有名なコレクションが揃っています。
ボストン大学は、全米でも大規模な大学のひとつで、コモンウエルス通りとチャールズ川に沿った建物からなるキャンパスには、医療施設、学生相談室、アスレチックセンター、銀行なども設備されています。
語学コースの学生も学内施設を利用できます。

안녕하세요 저는 서울에 있는 대학에 다니는 학생입니다.
2학년때 교환학생 신청을 해서 운 좋게 보스턴 대학을 다녀왔습니다.
학교도 너무 좋고 미국에서 공부하는게 상당히 인상깊어서 학교를 휴학하고
어학연수를 준비해서 1년정도 더 머물다가 왔습니다.
 
어학연수 했던 프로그램은 슈퍼 집중영어 프로그램을 했었어요
우선은 수업 일정이 조금 빡빡해서 힘들기도 했고
내용도 쉽진 않아서 고생은 했지만 그래도 힘들었던 만큼 얻어가는 것도 많고
보람있었네요
 
숙소는 교환학생 떄 학교 기숙사에서 살아봐서
이번 어학연수 때는 홈스테이를 해보자고 해서 학교 밖에서 살았습니다.
둘 다 나름대로의 장단점이 다 있는 것 같아요.
외로움 많이 타시고 새로운 환경에 적응 잘 못하시는 분은 학교 기숙사에서 생활하시는 것 추천해드립니다.

ボストン大学で原則8段階のレベルに分かれていて、開講時のレベルテストでクラスが振りわけられます。

最初の1週間くらいでもしレベルが合わないと感じれば、クラスを変更してもらうことも出来ます。

環境や授業の質、サポートの体制、どれをとっても優れていると思います。
先生もひとりひとりしっかり見てくれますし、友達も良い子ばかりでした。
周りの環境には本当に恵まれたと思います。

また、語学学校の留学生でも学生証があれば学校内の施設はほぼ全て利用できますし、周辺の施設(美術館など)にも無料で入れたり、
学外でも特典は多いです。

そしてボストン大学はとても国際色が豊かな学校なので、いろんな国の友達と出会うことが出来ます。

日本人の数も思ったより多い気がしました。

この留学で語学面はもちろん、価値観も大きく変わったような気がします。

すばらしい思い出が出来増した。
