  • The UCEDA international schools have been promoting English language learning since 1988. UCEDA schools began accepting international non-immigrant students as well – through the United States’ F-1 student visa program. Currently, there are five campuses: in Paterson, Passaic, Dover, New Brunswick and Perth Amboy. Today, UCEDA International specializes in the needs of these international students with its Intensive English Program and host of advisement services aimed at helping international students reach their unique goals. The mission is  "Motivate and prepare our students to achieve their goals by developing effective English communication skills.” UCEDA International is committed to ensuring that students receive the high-quality, highly-personalized educational experience that they need to succeed.

  • Focus of Study and Benefits :
    English has become a vital tool for staying competitive in the modern, globalized world. UCEDA INTERNATIONAL offers a wide array of courses in English as a Second Language to students at all levels, including Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and our own college-preparation levels that we refer to as Advanced Plus. The day students arrive at UCEDA they will be given a placement test which will identify your exact level of English proficiency. Following placement testing, students will meet with an Academic Advisor who will help them to create a personalized course schedule based on students' level of English, their individual goals and availability. Placement testing is free, so don’t wait any longer – a new life is on the horizon.

    Curriculum :
    UCEDA INTERNATIONAL courses are offered as Intensive English Programs in order to help students obtain a firm mastery of the language in a time frame that may be condensed according to individual needs. Intensive English Programs (IEP) consist of 18 instructional hours per week. For students' convenience, each instructional site offers multiple schedules in the mornings and evenings. Most classes meet 5 days per week (MON-FRI), although some locations may also offer 4-day classes. Workshop classes, lasting only one hour each, are also held 3 days per week by an instructor who tailors the material to the individual needs of students in attendance.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study and Benefits:
    -Diagnostic Pre-Tests for each section of the TOEFL iBT (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing) measure student’s level of performance and allow students to determine specific areas of weakness.
    -Skills Practice for each section allows students to review and master all of the language skills that are regularly tested on the TOEFL iBT.
    -Test-Taking Strategies for each section provide students with clearly defined steps to maximize their performance on the test.
    -Exercises provide practice in both TOEFL and non-TOEFL formats.
    -TOEFL Post-Tests for each section measure the progress that students have made after working through the skills and strategies in the text.
    -Eight Mini-Tests allow students to simulate the experience of taking actual tests using shorter versions (approximately 1.5 hours each) of the test.
    -Two Complete Tests allow students to simulate the experience of taking actual tests using full-length versions (approximately 3.5 hours each) of the test.
    -Answers and Explanations for all skills practice and test items allow students to understand their errors and learn from their mistakes.
    -Scoring Information calculated approximate TOEFL scores based on Diagnostic Pre-Tests, Post-Tests, Mini-Tests, and Complete Tests.
    -Skill-Assessments help students monitor their progress in specific language skills so they can determine which skills have been mastered and which skills require further study.

    Curriculum :
    TOEFL opens more doors. The “Test of English as a Foreign Language” (TOEFL) is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, required by more than 8,500 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. UCEDA TOEFL prep course helps students to improve Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing sections. The course will also familiarize students with the test's structure, and prepare students with valuable test-taking strategies and practice. UCEDA INTERNATIONAL’s TOEFL instructors have the most up-to-date information available on the TOEFL internet-based test (iBT), and provide comprehensive preparation activities and materials.

  • Although UCEDA INTERNATIONAL does not provide student housing, students may choose from a variety of living options available in the surrounding community. For Homestay, students can live with a real American family. This option costs $600-$800 per month with 12 meals per week. For hotels, a variety of hotels with all levels of amenities exist throughout the New York / New Jersey area. UCEDA can help students find and reserve comfort and convenience hotels.Apartment/Flat Depending on student's budget and living preferences, UCEDA can use its local contacts to find students the perfect apartment/flat. The cost may vary from $450 to $1000 a month; students can get anything from a single room to their own one bedroom apartment.

  • Passaic is the name of a county located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 501,226,[3] reflecting an increase of 12,177 (+2.5%) from the 489,049 counted in the 2000 Census, retaining its position as the state's ninth-most populous county. Passaic offers a variety of cultural, historic as well as recreational attractions. In particular, people can spend time enjoying their leisure time in Dance Studio. Moreover, they can go to some restaurants such as Mcdonald's and Dunkin' Donuts. In case of emergency, Health Care Pharmacy is near UCEDA International - Passaic for the students and the people who live in Passaic.

是一個大都市,雖然也有一些不錯的景點,也可以在路上看到各式各樣各個國家的人,這人多車多的大城市,還真不習慣,我花了好幾天才適應過來。這次是我第一次自己一個人出國,除了待兩個月唸語言學校,結束後我還再到旅行,感覺這趟旅程最大的收穫是做了自己以前不敢做的事。在唸語言學校的期間,我周末都會自己安排各個景點去自助旅行,在旅行前不僅要做好功課,到了當地也要靠著地圖慢慢摸索,或是問旅遊服務中心。
住寄宿家庭,不過離學校搭公車通勤要三十分鐘,每天都會經過大橋,看到漂亮的海和無數艘帆船。我住的房間非常奢華,很大又一個人睡雙人床,還有一張書桌。對於住宿有一些限制,不過大致上還不錯,我有三個室友,偶爾也會和他們一起出去走走,感覺跟不同國家的同學上課很開心,也可以了解很多有別於台灣的不同的世界。
