  • The Georgia Institute of Technology is a public research university in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. It is a part of the University System of Georgia and has satellite campuses in Savannah, Georgia; Metz, France; Athlone, Ireland; Shanghai, China; and Singapore.The educational institution was founded in 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology as part of Reconstruction plans to build an industrial economy in the post-Civil War Southern United States. Initially, it offered only a degree in mechanical engineering. By 1901, its curriculum had expanded to include electrical, civil, and chemical engineering. In 1948, the school changed its name to reflect its evolution from a trade school to a larger and more capabletechnical institute and research university.Today, Georgia Tech is organized into six colleges and contains about 31 departments/units, with emphasis on science and technology. It is well recognized for its degree programs in engineering, computing, business administration, the sciences, architecture, and liberal arts.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study : 
    Our Intensive English Program (IEP) offers more than 50 years of experience meeting the academic, professional, and social needs of international students from more than 100 countries. Our curriculum emphasizes preparing individuals for academic and professional success.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    highly experienced faculty with advanced degrees,individualized attention,20 hours of core classes per week plus elective course options,access to individual academic counseling and advising,assistance for both on-campus and off-campus housing, andstate-of-the-art resources and facilities of a world-renowned university.  

    Curriculum : 
    Intensive English program is taught by highly experienced faculty with advanced degrees in applied language. The program divides students in 7 different levels, each with 10 to 15 students. All new students take a placement test before classes start to determine their initial level placement. Completion of the program can take from two months to 16 months depending on initial placement. Promotion to the next level is based on final grades and teacher recommendation. Courses consist of Core courses including grammar, reading, writing, and speaking and listening; Alternative track courses including Speaking English to Get What You Want, Advanced Grammar 1, American Literature, Current Events, and Service Learning. Students may also register for optional electives courses, which include TOEFL Preparation and GMAT/GRE Preparation

    -Dormitory Apartments: Students have an individual room, but share their bathroom with one or two other students. All apartments have four or six bedrooms. Bedrooms are furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, dresser, and chair.  All apartment residents share a living room, dining area, and kitchen. The kitchen has a refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwasher, and microwave.The cost is approximately $4,063 a semester (4 months) plus an $80 application fee.

    Neither Georgia Tech nor the Language Institute is able to recommend or directly promote any of Off-campus housing options. The Language Institute accepts no responsibility or liability for housing choices students make.

    Some things to think about when considering renting an apartment:

    Communities closest to Georgia Tech are Midtown and Buckhead
    Unfurnished one-bedroom apartments costs approximately $850-$1000 per month
    Most apartments (furnished and unfurnished) come with a refrigerator, stove, oven, and some kind of window covering. You must provide everything else
    Minimum contract is usually six months. Subleases may be available for shorter stays
    Parking is often an extra fee
    Co-signer or guarantor is often necessary for international students without social security numbers
    A signed contract is a binding legal document

  • Georgia Tech's main campus occupies part of Midtown Atlanta, bordered by 10th Street to the north and by North Avenue to the south, placing it well in sight of theAtlanta skyline. In 1996, the campus was the site of the athletes' village and a venue for a number of athletic events for the 1996 Summer Olympics. 學校的活動很多,設施也會不定期更新,每個周末都有安排活動帶學生出遊,

老師教學方式活潑,也很有耐心,每堂課的內容雖然不同,但都注重再加強同學的聽說讀寫部分，
每學期舉辦兩次英語能力測驗的考試,便利於要進修的學生,也而外開選修課提供給學生參加.
學生都來自世界各地,不過大都來中東像是沙烏地阿拉伯,印度;以及韓國.日本.和中國各地的亞洲地區,除了可以認識各個地方不同的文化之外,也可以訓練聽除了美式以外的口音~~
南阿拉巴馬大學坐落在阿拉巴馬州莫比爾是一個重要的港口城市，方便前往墨西哥灣沿岸的海灘在阿拉巴馬州和佛羅里達州。
這是一個2小時的車程，以著名的旅遊城市新奧爾良，路易斯安那，這是著名的美食，音樂和歷史街區。
因為去附近旅行都很方便很近，因此常常與其他同學一起去旅行~~ 有很多很美好得回憶^^

アメリカの南部に留学するのが夢で、１年間アトランタに留学しました。


アトランタは、コカコーラ本社があったり、音楽フェスティバルなど音楽活動もさかんで、
観光スポットも多くて楽しいです。
ただ、治安に関しては気をつけながら生活した方が良いかもしれません。
ダウンタウンなんかは昼間でも一人では出歩かない方が良いです。
危険といわれているところには近寄らず、夜は出歩かないなど最低限のことを守っていれば安全に生活できます。
基本的に人は優しくて温かい人が多い印象をうけました。
南部ならではといったかんじですね＾＾

ホームステイ先のホストファミリーも、私のところは黒人のファミリーだったんですが、
めちゃくちゃやさしくて、陽気で面白いファミリーでした。
特にホストマザーはいつも食事の面などに気をつかってくれて、本当の息子のように接してくれました。
ホストブラザーも私とあまり年が変わらないというのもあって、すぐに仲良くなれました。
アトランタに留学するならホームステイをお勧めします。
本当にあたたかい家庭が多いと思います。

1年間語学留学をしました。
私は、大学進学が目標だったので名門校で大学進学の為にみっちり英語が学びたく、
ジョージア工科大学付属集中英語コースを選びました。

クラスのレベル分けは、7クラスで一クラスの平均は10名くらいでした！多い時でも15人でした。
なので質問もしやすく、コミュニケーションもたくさん取れるのでよかったです。
授業は、はじめは文法、作文、リーディング、コミュニケーション、リスニングを重点的に進めて、
レベルが上がっていくにつれて、大学進学を目指す学生向けの大学レベルの授業内容になっていきました。
入学していきなり大学レベルに合わせた授業が始まるわけではないので、徐々に慣れていきながら
自分のレベルも上げつつ、大学進学の準備が出来ました。

宿泊施設は、語学学校のときからずっと大学の学生寮に住んでいます。
ジョージア工科大学の寮なので、大学生の友達も出来ましたし、語学学校の違うクラスの友達もできたりして
良いコミュニケーションの場です。日常会話の勉強にもなりますし！
なので滞在中は、学生寮の利用をお薦めします！
