    Structure/Speaking Practice with emphasis on vocabulary enrichment and language technology
    Benefit, Goal of this course : If students want to learn English while still having time to visit local cities and attractions, the ELS Semi-Intensive English program is the perfect choice! Student will take classes in the morning and have afternoons free to explore and use his improving English.
     
    Curriculum :  
    The development of important language skills and elements, such as listening, speaking, 
     
    pronunciation and vocabulary, allows him to communicate accurately and effectively.
     
    Students practice conversation and other speaking skills using practical, real-world English. Students learn  
    to write with accuracy and effectiveness, develop strategic listening skills and improve your use  
    of grammar.
     
    Students work on his individual language skills and objectives through technology-supported learning  
    in our modern Language Technology Centers.
     
    Contact America! provides student with regular opportunities to meet with native English speakers, visit

    Students who wish to study English while on vacation in the USA may do so in the ELS American Explorer Program.
    Curriculum : This program features three morning lessons per day (Monday through Friday) for a total of 15 lessons per week. Afternoons are free for recreation and relaxation.

Course information

  • Focus of Study :
    English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is set out to provide students with the fundamental academic tools they will need in order to study abroad. EAP will be the initiative to students' pursuit of higher education.

    Benefit, Goal of this course : 
    Students who enroll in EAP program will ultimately aim for conditional admissions to ELS' 650+ partner universities. Students who complete all 12 levels of Intensive EAP courses will be issued a Certificate of Completion which will prove students' English proficiency at more than 650 universities.

    Curriculum :
    Students at all levels will be offered Language Technology Center and Reading/Writing lessons. From beginner(101-103) to advanced(107-109), students will be provided with structure/speaking and vocabulary lessons while masters (110-112) will be provided with Skills Enhancement Class and Language Studies additionally.

    Meals: No meals included, but students may cook in the large and well equipped kitchen, or eat at the nearby restaurants or food courtthat are within walking distance of the Student Home.

    Description: 
    The ELS Student Home in San Rafael is located in a very safe, quiet area. It is within a short 5 minute free shuttle ride offered to and from the center, and also provides free trips upon students' requests tothe nearby mall and grocery stores. The San Rafael Student Home offers private (single) and shared(double and triple) bedrooms. Privatebedrooms are available as "standard"(shared bathroom) and "superior" (private bathroom, cable-installed television, dvd player and refrigerator located in the room). Shared bedrooms and bathrooms are usuallyfor two to three students. The Student Home also offers "standard" double suites and "deluxe" double or triple suites. Students opting for the "standard" room share a bathroom and living area with other residents. When a bedroom is shared, students are usually paired with another student from a different country, but students can also request to stay with a friend. Students who wish to reside in a "deluxe" suite receiveamenities that include a flat screen television, dvd player, refrigerator and a shared private bathroom in the room. The house is divided into separate male and female areas. Each room is provided with linens (mattress cover, bed sheets, 2 blankets, 1 towel, and 1 pillow) as well as a desk and closet space. There is also additional storage space located on the facility to place empty luggage and bicycles. A:コースのレベルは、全12段階に分けられています。
 一つのレベルを修了するのに4週間が必要となります。
 最初のレベルテストで、各生徒の実力に応じてスタートするレベルが異なりますので、各個人により、修了する期間は異なります。
 また、ひとクラスは最大15名までとなっております。

Q、学校周辺の環境は?

学校はサンフランシスコから40分ほどのサンラファエルに位置します。
キャンパスから市内へは徒歩圏内で治安が良く、落ち着いて勉強に集中できる環境なので、初めて海外で生活する留学生も安心して生活できます。
ハイキング、ゴルフ、水泳、セーリングなどのアウトドアスポーツも盛んです。

名門大学としてランク付けされるドミニカン大学はのキャンパスは緑に囲まれ、ヨーロッパの邸宅のような趣があります
校内にはコンピュータセンター、プール、体育館、テニスコートなどのスポーツ施設も完備されており、語学留学生も利用可能です。

長期の休みを利用して、アメリカに語学留学してみようと思い、こちらの学校を選びました。

私の場合、みっちり勉強する、というよりはアメリカでしか出来ない体験、観光なども楽しみたいと思ったのでこちらのコースにしました。
午前中に授業があり、午後は自由時間で、サンフランシスコに出たり、公園で遊んだり、スポーツをしたりして楽しい時間を過ごしました。
授業はスピーキングの練習を熱心にやってくれたので、お店や旅行に行く時にすごく役立ちました。
到着した頃は現地の人々が何を言ってるかあまり分からなかったのですが、授業を受けてるうちに、「あ、この表現授業でやった!」など、英語が理解できるようになってとても嬉しかったです。
サンフランシスコまで近いので、アメリカの西海岸での生活を存分に体験できました。とても良い経験だったと思います。

美波

私はサンフランシスコでELS運営の語学学校を探していたので、

ここドミニカン大学の英語プログラムに決めました。

学校のまわりはとても静かでのどかなので、キャンパス内もとても広くて綺麗です。
広くて綺麗な芝生もあるので、みんな座って話したり、寝転んで本を読んだりしていました。
たまに課題をしている人も見かけました。
静かなので、勉強するのにも適した環境だと思います。

授業は上級にいくにつれて取り扱う内容が難しくなっていきます。
日本語でも難しいような内容だったりするので、ある程度関心を持っていないとついていくのが難しいと思います。
それでも常に先生が関心を持たせようと工夫してくれているので、楽しく授業を受けることが出来ました。

また、留学生も正規の学生と同じように自由学校の施設を利用出来るので、
アメリカの大学生になったような気分を味わうことができます。
特に図書館は毎日のように利用していましたし、カフェテリアもしょっちゅう利用していました。

本当に充実した留学生活を送ることが出来たと思います。
