  • Louisiana Tech University, often referred to as Louisiana Tech, LA Tech, or Tech, is a coeducational public research university in Ruston, Louisiana, United States. Louisiana Tech is designated as a Tier 1 national university by the 2013 U.S. News & World Report college rankingsand is the only Tier 1 national university in the nine-member University of Louisiana System Louisiana Tech enrolled 11,581 students in five academic colleges during the Fall 2011 academic quarter including 2,444 students in the graduate school. In addition to the main campus in Ruston, Louisiana Tech holds classes at the Louisiana Tech University Shreveport Center, Cyber Innovation Center in Bossier City, and Barksdale Air Force Base. requirements

  • Applicants from non-English speaking countries: Students with a 2.0 GPA must have one of the following: an iBT TOEFL 79 or an IELTS 6.5 or SAT Math subscore 510, Evidence-based Reading and Writing 500 subscore with a minimum composite score of 1130 or ACT Math subscore 19 and English subscore 18 with a minimum composite score of 23. Students with a 2.5 GPA must have one of the following: an iBT TOEFL 71 or an IELTS 6.0 or SAT Math subscore 510, Evidence-based Reading and Writing 500 subscore with a minimum composite score of 810 or ACT Math subscore 19 and English subscore 18 with a minimum composite score of 15. College prep curriculum requirements include 3 years of college preparatory mathematics. SAT or ACT are highly recommended.

    Type: Single, Double Meals: Price includes $160 cafeteria credit per session to use in various on campus food establishments. Credit can only be used for food purchases only

    Description: 
    Various dormitories at LTU are used for ELS students. Males are in separate dorms from females. Choice of a single private room or shared double room (different prices) in a typical on campus dormitory. Shared hallway bathrooms. Rooms include sink, bed, desk, closet, and chest of drawers. Linens are also included. Exact dormitory placement is announced upon check-in. Self-service laundry machines are available within walking-distance of rooms. Students can pay laundry machine fees using the "express" money allotment on their LTUstudent card.

  • Ruston is a small city and the parish seat of Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is the largest city in the Eastern Ark-La-Tex region. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 21,859, reflecting an increase of 6.4 percent from the count of 20,546 counted in the 2000 Census.[4] Ruston is near the eastern border of the Ark-La-Tex region and is the home of Louisiana Tech University. Its economy is therefore based on its college population. Ruston hosts the annual Peach Festival.

這是我人生中第一次出國,也是第一次自己一個人遠行。最開始出國的初衷就只是希望能夠把語文能力提升,長時間的課程加上實際的生活體驗,讓我得到的不僅僅只是語文能力的提升,更多的是文化與實際生活體驗所帶來的影響。這段時間,除了上課之外,因為希望可以趁著聖誕假期時間遊覽整個國家,所以也自己著手開始規畫行程。從最開始的規劃、自己找相關的旅行社、預定旅行期間所有的住宿、前往的渡輪、回程的機票或是到當地報名參加活動,所有的過程都是自己獨立完成。之所以能夠自己一手完成這些,我想是因為在上課的過程中,學校老師給的鼓勵,所以在很多需要英語溝通的地方自己都變得相對於以往有自信,然而寄宿家庭也帶給我莫大的影響,他們教我用正向的態度去面對遇到的難題。我記憶中很深刻的事情是,有幾天我因為連續幾天的雨而顯得有些煩悶,然而家庭告訴我說:如果沒有這些雨,你來到這裡就看不到這麼美麗的風景。雖然只是很簡單的幾句話,影響卻很大。
在還沒有出發之前,我想我和很多人都一樣,認為出國是一件算還蠻了不起的事情,好像出去一趟就會有所成就,一切都會很順利,但事實上並非如此,不是所有的一切都像想像中美好,生活上還是會有許多大大小小的問題需要自己想辦法解決,藉由這次的留學也讓我成長了許多~~^^
