About the  University of Louisville

  • Located just south of the heart of Kentucky's largest city, UofL's Belknap Campus is home to eight of the university's 12 academic schools and colleges. The Health Sciences Center, located in downtown Louisville's medical complex, is home to four schools and is the headquarters for UofL Health, including UofL Health – UofL Hospital and UofL Health – Jewish Hospital. Shelby Campus, located in eastern Louisville, is home to several university centers, as well as the Shelbyhurst office park for business and technology endeavors.

  • Louisville is the perfect mix of Southern charm and big city culture. As the home of Muhammad Ali, Louisville Slugger and the Kentucky Derby, the city offers countless attractions, restaurants, parks and more to entice foodies, arts fans and outdoor enthusiasts. Situated on the banks of the Ohio River, America's 17th largest city boasts a cost of living that is substantially lower than the national average, with a broad range of affordable housing options from high-rise apartments and historic Victorian homes to suburban communities and rural farms.

Facilities

  • Belknap Campus
    Belknap Campus is considered the school's main campus and is located south of downtown Louisville. At 274 acres, it is home to eight of the 12 academic colleges. The campus also includes L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium (football), Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park (softball), a track and soccer stadium, Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, and Patterson Stadium (baseball).

    Health Sciences Center
    East of downtown Louisville, the Health Sciences Center (HSC) is the heart of the Louisville medical center and contains the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Public Health & Information Sciences, and the School of Dentistry. Also on the campus are several specialty hospitals, numerous UofL research buildings and state-of-the-art facilities.

    Shelby Campus
    The Shelby Campus is a 230 acre plot of land located in eastern Louisville, on Shelbyville Road near Hurstbourne Parkway. Originally the site of the Kentucky Southern College, UofL acquired the land which now houses an array of business, government and technology endeavors. The campus also includes offices for UofL’s Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning, Kent School of Social Work and Family Science and Event and Conference Services as well as a conference center.

Activity

  • UofL competes in 21 intercollegiate varsity sports. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field; women's sports include basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field and volleyball.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • Airport Shuttle - TARC Route 2 provides direct service between Belknap campus (3rd Street and Eastern Pkwy), the Louisville International Airport (SDF), and downtown. The shuttle is free to UofL students and employees with UofL ID.
