  • Fresno State is in the heart of California, otherwise known as the Central Valley. The Fresno State campus is about 1,400 acres, with over 4,000 trees and lots of green open spaces, providing a park-like environment to study.  We have a working farm, creamery, store, the largest library between Los Angeles and Sacramento, Starbucks, a movie theater, event center, bowling alley, planetarium and much more. Fresno State is even home to the Save Mart Center, the largest university indoor arena on the West Coast of the U.S. As the 5th largest city in California, Fresno provides students with easy access to a vast number of sports teams, organizations, facilities, venues, and internship opportunities. Fresno State conveniently located within a three-hour drive to both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Fresno County is home to some of the world’s most sought after recreation and entertainment destinations.  Three National Parks, Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon, are right in our backyard. Breathtaking scenery, spectacular canyons, cascading rivers and waterfalls, the world’s largest trees, and endless trails can be found a short drive away. Visit beautiful Yosemite or the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.

  • The university's facilities include an on-campus planetarium, on-campus raisin and wine grape vineyards, and a commercial winery where student-made wines have won over 300 awards since 1997. Members of Fresno State's nationally ranked equestrian team have the option of housing their horses on campus, next to indoor and outdoor arenas. Fresno State has a 50,000-square-foot (4,600 m2) Student Recreation Center and the third-largest library (by square footage) in the California State University system.

Getting to the school from the airport

  • Air Travel  
    Fresno has its own airport coded as FAT. When you purchase the international air ticket, you may choose Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) as your destination. The international flight from your home country may be connected through airports in other cities, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle etc, before arriving at Fresno Yosemite International Airport which is 15 minutes by taxi or car to Fresno State campus.

    Greyhound Bus
    Although most students would choose to arrive by airplane, you may also have the option to arrive in Fresno by Greyhound.  Greyhound buses are a convenient and cheap way to travel to other cities or states. Their terminal is located downtown at 1033 Broadway (Broadway and Tulare) in Fresno (15 minutes by taxi/car to Fresno State campus).  For fare and schedule information call 1-800-231-2222 or the Fresno terminal at 559-268-1829. Tickets may be purchased by going online to www.greyhound.com. A variety of promotions and special prices are available on their website.

    AMTRAK Train
    Fresno also has a train station that you may choose to arrive at. The main train service is Amtrak, and it is located downtown at 2650 Tulare, Bldg. B (Tulare and Q Street), 15 minutes by taxi/car to Fresno State campus.  For Fresno Station information you can call 559-486-7651.  For reservation and schedule information call 1-800-872-7245 or go on-line at www.amtrak.com or www.amtrakcalifornia.com.

    If your final destination is the Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT), the readily available transportation from the airport to your destination (dormitory/apartment/friend’s house) is taking a taxi (cab) outside the airport, or using a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft (about $15-$25).
     
    Make sure you have cash (about $30) if you are taking a cab and the address to your destination. If you are staying at an apartment, make prior arrangements with the apartment manager to meet you within one or two hours of your arrival at FAT to check you into the apartment.  If you arrive after office hours, you may need to check into a hotel to spend the night.
