    To obtain sufficient knowledge and become fluent in all areas of the English language. In order to achieve this end, the program’s rigorous curriculum focuses on developing students’ fundamental English skills in the areas of: Grammar, Writing, Conversation, Pronunciation, Listening, Reading and Vocabulary.
     
    Benefit, Goal of this course :
    The CISL Standard Courses in San Diego and San Francisco provides an integrated general English curriculum to help students communicate effectively and confidently. Each unit presents a wide variety of conversational activities: discussion, listening comprehension, idiomatic expressions and role-playing as well as reading, grammar, and writing.

    Curriculum :
    CISL's Standard English Courses are designed for students at Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels who must maximize their study time in San Diego and San Francisco. They include Standard English classes daily from 9-12:40, Monday through Thursday. Students may begin their course on any Monday. The program is offered with 10 levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. When students arrive at the school, they are given a comprehensive placement test to evaluate their grammar, listening, speaking and writing skills and guarantee their proper placement into an ability level. Students study from the core curriculum that focuses on skill area development. In addition, students will study Social English to learn language useful for everyday social, study or work life including discussions, conversations, presenting information and telephoning. The student will use a text book, which forms the basis of the study, but which is augmented by a variety of other materials such as video and audio recordings, supplementary text books and authentic materials.Outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to independently explore the local areas of interest and experience the city’s vibrant, eclectic neighborhoods to gain real, practical insight into the culture of the city. Many students participate in school-organized events, as well, and enjoy the local entertainment and leisure activities. Classroom sizes range from 6 to 8 students per class. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.

    To maximize the opportunities for speaking the language, CISL has a policy of never allowing two students of the same mother tongue to stay in any one host family. Each student has a private room. Meals are included in our homestay rates, either breakfast only or breakfast and dinner, 7 days per week.Our host families are carefully selected and monitored according to strict criteria established by CISL. Homes must be comfortable, the families welcoming and, most importantly, CISL homestay families are genuinely interested in receiving students and helping them to develop fluency in English.

ホームステイについて質問
Q:ホームステイは学校からどれくらいの距離にあるのでしょうか?
 ホストファミリーが合わなかった場合、ステイ先を変えてもらうことはできるのでしょうか?
 また、授業終了後でもステイ先に滞在することは可能でしょうか?

A:ホームステイ先はどれも学校から公共交通機関で約30~45分の場所に位置しています。
 万一ホストファミリーと上手くマッチングできなかった場合、正当な理由があればコーディネーターが別のステイ先を紹介いたします。
 また、授業終了後もステイ先に滞在することは可能ではありますが、1~2日の延長のみです。
 基本的にCISLの生徒でない方のステイは認められておりません。

サンディエゴは、ラテンとヨーロッパの雰囲気が漂い、気候が温暖な都市です。
広大なビーチもあり、夏になるとサーフィンを楽しむことも出来ます
学校はサンディエゴの中心地にあり、周辺にはレストラン、ショッピングモール、クラブ、映画館などもあります。
またシーワールドや動物園もあり、サンディエゴのエンターテインメントを肌で感じることができ、週末などにはメキシコやロサンゼルスへ行くこともできます。

こちらの学校では少人数制を採用していて、私のクラスは7名のクラスでした。

私は人見知りをするほうなので、クラスがこじんまりしていてすごく有難かったです。
おかげ様でクラスメートとわりとすぐに仲良くなれました。
授業内容も、新聞のニュース等について話し合ったり、ロールプレイをしてみたりなど、
楽しい内容のものが多かったです。
サンディエゴの街での生活も楽しくて、有名な動物園にも良くいきました。
想像していた以上に過ごし易い街で、とても充実した留学生活を送ることができました。

とてもアットホームな雰囲気の学校でした。


授業は会話中心で進められ、上級クラスになると日本語でも議論するのが難しいような内容になってきます。
やはりヨーロッパ系や南米から来た子達は英語が本当に上手なので、私は授業についていくのでいっぱいいっぱいでしたが、
良い先生と友達に恵まれて、それでも楽しく授業を受けることが出来ました。

宿泊はホームステイを利用しました。
何度も留学生を受け入れた経験のある家庭を学校側が紹介してくれました。
おかげで本当にすばらしいホストファミリーに出会えました。
ホストマザーはいつも美味しい料理を作ってくれ、ホストファザーもいつも私を気にかけてくれていました。
週末は車でどこかに連れていてくれたり、
勉強で分からないところも一緒に考えてくれたりしましたし、やはりホストファミリーとの会話は英語なので、
それだけでも十分英語の練習になると思います。

本当に忘れられない一生の思い出が出来ました。
ありがとうございました。
