Evergreen Academy About the

  • Evergreen Academy has been providing ESL courses since 2007. The school has grown from one morning program to a variety of courses in the morning, afternoon and evening. We started with a few classrooms and now occupy 11 classrooms, including two fully equipped computer labs. Evergreen Academy’s staff and faculty are committed to providing excellent English language instruction for non-native speakers and helping our students meet their goals. Our instruction is student-centered, uses effective methodologies, and provides students with opportunities to experience English through cultural immersion. Evergreen Academy’s staff, faculty, and students are held to high expectations to ensure a successful program.

    Course Description
    Fundamentals of English
    In this unique course, students will focus on handwriting skills and basic sentence formation (writing and speaking). The class will practice many vocabulary words and verbs along with the simplest tenses in order to conduct basic daily interactions in public transportation, grocery stores, and banks, among many other common scenarios

    Read it, Write it, See it! (RWS)
    In RWS, students take a literal and figurative tour of culture and history as
    they read biographies of famous historical figures, visit DC sites to experience these events first-hand, and learn to write paragraph-length speeches, letters, stories, journal entries and arguments inspired by their new knowledge.

  • The school does not provide student housing, however, there are many private housing and home stay opportunities around the campus. The Student Service Office may assist students finding appropriate housing. A range of cost of housing in Northern Virginia is between $500 and $2,000.
