About the  Touro College of Pharmacy

  • The mission of Touro College of Pharmacy is to develop the next generation of pharmacists vested in promoting wellness, especially among the underserved populations in Harlem and beyond. We are committed to contributing to scientific knowledge and expanding the roles and competencies of the profession, toward improving patient-centered care processes and outcomes. We will inspire and educate ethical leaders in pharmacy through a collegial culture, scholarship, and experiential opportunities and will strive for diversity in our student body, faculty and staff.

Course Information

  • Our four-year PharmD curriculum emphasizes guided, individual learning through rigorous coursework and extensive practice experience. Experienced and engaged professors will mentor and advise you every step of the way, ensuring that by the time you graduate, you are as prepared as possible to embark on the next phase of your professional journey.

Students spend the beginning of their pharmacy school career, the first 2.5 years, in the classroom, learning the ins and outs of pharmaceutical science, patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, and medication management. With a firm knowledge of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science, you'll head out to the field for the next 1.5 years, to complete practice experiences at our affiliate sites, learning first-hand about clinical practice, ambulatory care, general medicine, and institutional and community pharmacy practice.

One of the highlights of our Doctor of Pharmacy program is our approach to learning. We think more opportunities to put into practice what you learn in the classroom will make you a better pharmacist. That's why we give you more time on rotations than most other colleges of pharmacy.

Surrounding Area

  • Many TCOP students come from out of state and choose to live near campus not just for the convenience, but for the culture, the diversity, and the history. Affordable rents don’t hurt either.

Located in upper Manhattan, Harlem offers a wide range of housing options, including historic brownstones, newly renovated condos, and shared apartments.

    Manhattan and Brooklyn
It may take some patience, but you can find reasonable rents in Manhattan. Students often look in neighborhoods like Murray Hill, the Lower East Side, Washington Heights and Midtown West.

Though certainly a longer commute, Brooklyn is an excellent option if you’d like a more residential atmosphere. Between the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, the subway, buses, and ferries, there are plenty of routes to get you from Brooklyn to Harlem.

    New Jersey
NJ Transit is safe, fast, and affordable, and it will easily get you from New Jersey to midtown, or over the George Washington Bridge where you can catch the express subway to Harlem.
