  • Los Angeles Pacific College (LAPC), 3325 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 550, Los Angeles, CA 90010, was incorporated in 1993. Since 2004, the institution has been an S Corporation and operating under the legal name, Los Angeles Pacific College. Our students represent many different cultures; for this reason, LAPC has embraced the institutional pedagogy, or art of teaching, of multicultural education.We strive to develop the personal growth and professional potential of each of our students by incorporating work ethics into the curriculum. LAPC aims to create and uphold a culture of work ethics for staff, faculty, and students alike. 
    Through our programs of study, students are prepared for gainful employment in various fields including business data processing, accounting, computer graphic design, web design, and computer information technology.In addition, we aim to broaden our students’ horizons, resulting in career growth and job security. For students studying ESL, we assist in providing the necessary tools to develop proficiency in English and the opportunities to experience and learn about American culture

Course Information

  • ESL 1 Beginning Level (16 Units)
    In this course, students learn and apply basic sentence structure and grammar rules, practice speaking and writing in complete sentences; and practice listening and reading skills by listening to and reading short passages. Students learn to understand the main idea of a reading passage, preview and predict information, and summarize a reading passage using a concept map. Students write sentences about daily life, the future and other topics. They brainstorm ideas after watching a video passage. Story book and videos are used to teach American culture. 

    ESL 2 High Beginning Level (16 Units)
    In this course, students study simple present, simple past and simple future verb tenses, adjectives, adverbs, comparatives and superlatives and modals. They write sentences using infinitives of purpose and coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or) and hone their communicative skills by listening to and discussing material from readings, listening activities and videos. They learn note taking skills while listening, practice guessing meaning of new vocabulary from context and using vocabulary to complete definitions and sentences. Students interpret text and visuals, write summaries and conduct surveys. Students are able to brainstorm ideas, view videos for main ideas and key details and synthesize information.

  • Classrooms
    LAPC limits the size of its classes to maintain the educational quality of its instructional programs. Class size may vary from one subject area to another, and from laboratory to lecture. In general, a typical class size ranges from 10 to 15 students. The average instructor-student ratio is 1:10.

    Computer Labs
    Three computer labs are open to students after the lecture sessions. The labs are equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. Students are advised to utilize computer labs for working on class-related assignments or for additional lab practice.

    Library
    Students are encouraged to supplement their course of study by utilizing the resources of the library. Library resources include various reference books, textbooks, and general literature and are available to the students, faculty, and staff of LAPC. The library is equipped with computers for Internet access, access to a network printer, desks, and chairs.

    Accessibility
    LAPC provides facilities that are accessible to physically disabled students. Applicants with a physical disability are invited to visit the school to determine if the facilities meet their requirements.
