  • The ELC is located in the center of the beautiful Towson University campus. You will meet people from all over the world as you study, participate in cultural and social events, and use campus recreational facilities. The Towson ELC is a semester-long program with fall, spring and summer semesters.

Course Information

  • Focus of Study :
    Since 1985, Towson University’s English Language Center (ELC) has offered state-of-the art academic language instruction to students representing more than 80 countries. New students will be assessed and placed into one of six levels designed to develop skills for academic success.



    Curriculum :
    Integrated Core Skills 
    Classes reading/vocabulary (R/V) + writing/grammar (R/G), and listening/vocabulary (L/V) + speaking/grammar (S/G)research writing and graduate communication skills for level 5 and 6Small 

    Class Sizes averaging only 12-15 students 
    opportunities to speak, work in small groups, and apply skills in real-life language learning situations
    Conversation Partner Program 
    offers practice with native English speakers.
    Towson ELC Collaborate 
    creates opportunities to develop intercultural communication skills. 
    highly qualified experienced teachers make learning English exciting, challenging, and fun

  • There are 5,500 students in 18 school dormitories and 85 percent of new students. About 400 employees manage the Hosing&Residnce Life. Each hall accepts into 200 to 330 student rooms, double and quadruple rooms, and costs about $600 per semester.

Surrounding Area

  • Towson University is located in Baltimore. Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland and is an important port on the Patapsco River. International students can enjoy cultural facilities and tourist attractions such as the Walters Art Gallery, the National Aquarium, the Washington Monument and Mount Vernon in Baltimore.


Facilities

  • You will enjoy all of the modern amenities necessary to make your new home a comfortable place to live and one that will help facilitate your academic endeavors. Rooms are equipped with basic cable TV, high-speed Internet service, and a micro fridge unit. Towson Run apartments, 10 West floors 6 through 15, West Village 2 and Marshall Hall are equipped with full kitchens, including microwaves and common living rooms.

    All rooms are furnished with beds, desks, chairs, closets/wardrobes, dressers (except Newell and Richmond Halls), wall-to-wall carpeting (tile in the Glen Complex), and blinds/drapes. In-house laundry facilities, lounges, study rooms, and vending areas are located in each hall. Air conditioning is provided in all our halls.
