    What is the Cal Poly Pomona Conditional Admission Program?

    The CAL POLY POMONA Conditional Admission Program allows future Cal Poly English Language Institute (CPELI) students the opportunity to apply for a guaranteed admission spot for the Fall term 2016, on the condition that the student meets all of the eligibility guidelines, completes CPELI Level 5, secures the recommendation the Cal Poly Pomona Executive Director of Global Initiatives and maintains his/her SEVIS record with CPELI for the duration of his/her studies prior to entering the university.

    Eligibility Guidelines

    Recent First-Time-Freshman applicants only; only students who have graduated from high school in the past two years and never registered for or taken any college level class in their home country, the United States, or abroad may applyCompletion of a comprehensive pattern of college preparatory study with grades of "C" or better in all subjects is required; high school grade point average and test scores are used together to determine eligibility for some majors;Grade point average of B/3.0 or better (A=4.0) for study since 10th grade is requiredOfficial high school transcripts/marksheets need to be provided for each year of study since 9th grade; official copies of high school graduation certificate/diploma are also required if applicable; and official documents in languages other than English must include certified English translation.

    Course Information:
    The Intensive English Program is designed to develop the language and study skills necessary for
    success. Our program consists of 6 levels of instruction, from beginner level to advanced level. The
    program is year-round and is divided into five 8-week terms. Classes consist of 20 required hours per
    week that include listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skills.
    Benefits and Goal of this Course:
    The Intensive English Program is designed specifically for students who wish to improve their English
    language skills to prepare for academic, professional, and/or personal success. We welcome students
    from all walks of life to join our program.

    The Visiting Scholar program offers an independent research opportunity and monthly seminars on various topics about the US. Also, Scholars will be a mentor of students who studying in US or interested in your field.

    university housing if interested. Students have access to the University Housing dormitories on campus

    The Rain Bird BioTrek Project is an educational experience for visitors of all ages that emphasizes the

    need to share knowledge, values, and behaviors that support sustainability on a finite Earth. In its

    greenhouses, gardens, and stations, it provides interactive educational connections to the tropical

    rainforest, California’s indigenous plants and people, and other ancient and present-day habitats. Come

    and learn at the various learning centers at the BioTrek: Rainforest Learning Center, Ethnobotany

    Garden Learning Center, Aquatic Biology Learning Center, Mesozoic Garden and Learning Center, and

    the Wildlands of Cal Poly.

  • Sports and Recreation

    The Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC) is a 165,000-square foot recreation center at Cal

    Poly Pomona. The Associated Students, Incorporated (student government) operates the facility through

    its Campus Recreation department, and offers many spaces for exercise, training equipment,

    recreational spaces, and fitness classes.

    Centerpointe Dining Commons

    Centerpointe offers delicious and nutritious food stations with items such as handmade tortillas, a sushi

    bar, a salad bar featuring Cal Poly Pomona grown produce, a carving station, plenty of vegan and

    vegetarian options, and so much more! There is also a space dedicated to selling a full menu of Lollicup

    drinks, as well as a market with food staples, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and more.

    Cal Poly Pomona Farm Store


    The Farm Store sells fruits, vegetables, food, drink, and other market items sourced from Cal Poly

    Pomona’s farms and fields directly to the public. Not only does the Farm Store hire Cal Poly Pomona

    students from across campus, the Huntley College of Agriculture supports a “learn by doing”

    environment through student enterprise projects. Using the latest technology on the Cal Poly Pomona

    fields, facilities, and in the greenhouses, students have the opportunity to learn everything about food

    production from start to finish. All of the products eventually end up for sale in the Farm Store, sold to

    distributors, or are given to local food banks. A large part of the proceeds go back to the students to

    support their educational expenses and activities. The Farm Store also houses a Petting Farm for many

    farm animals, as well as hosts public events beloved by the local community, such as the annual

    Pumpkin Festival.

アメリカの田舎暮らしをしたくてこの学校を選択しました。


学校の近くには牧場があったりとてものどかな町です。
のんびり田舎暮らしが好きなひとにはたまらない環境だと思います。
生活費も中心部に比べると安くつくと思います。

あと、日本人が少ないです。
私のクラスでは日本人は私一人だけでした。
英語漬けの環境を望むのなら最高に適した環境だと思います。

大学進学を希望する学生も多いので、年齢層は割りと低めかも知れません。

学校の施設はほとんど自由に使うことが出来ます。
またアクティビティも一学期につき2,3回準備されていて、充実している方だと思います。

ロサンゼルスののどかな田舎でしっかり英語を勉強することができる学校です。
