Curriculum :
Each level of GENY's ESL program is designed to improve a student's English speaking skills while meeting certain grammatical, reading, writing, and listening requirements that prepare him or her for the next level.Generally, students stay in a level for 12 weeks, after which they are given a final exam and elevated to the next level.Students are treated on an individual basis, however, and there will be students who need to spend more (or less) time in any given level. Students at GENY have the opportunity to participate in after-class activities that are socially enriching and educationally rewarding.
The ESL programe is scheduled in the morning and the afternoon with 20 lessons per week in total (lessons are 45 minutes in length). The course is offered year-round with sessions beginning every Monday. The program is offered at 6 levels of instruction; level 1 is the most elementary level while Level level6 is the most advanced. Upon their arrival, are required to take a placement test to help determine the level best-suited to their ability. At the end of the session, students are evaluated for advancement to the next level based upon their academic improvement. This program assists students at any ability level in developing English language skills, general communication skills, and building confidence when speaking. Instruction focuses on grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each week, academic objectives are planned in advance and discussed with the students.
Outside of the classroom, students have opportunities to participate in arranged activities, practice their English in real-life situations and try something new such asvisits to musems, holiday parties and weekend camping trips.
Morning ESL
Mondays to Thursdays (8:30am – 1:00pm) – 18 hrs./per Week,
which includes Grammar/Structure, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Afternoon ESL
Mondays to Thursdays (1:00pm – 5:30m) – 18 hrs./per Week,
which includes Grammar/Structure, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Evening ESL
Mondays to Thursdays (5:30pm – 10:00m) – 18 hrs./per Week,
which includes Grammar/Structure, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Weekend ESL
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (9:00am – 3:30pm) – 18 hrs./per Week,
which includes Grammar/Structure, Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Project-Based Learning.
